As we ring in 2018, New Year's Resolutions will begin to whirl around in everyone's minds. Some of these declarations can be hard to stay true to throughout the year. New Year's Resolutions may also be difficult to compose for yourself. For 2018, I have provided four New Year's Resolutions for all my millennial women out there who need an extra boost.

1. Be healthy and happy

Instead of worrying about a certain weight you desire to be or obsessing over superficial stigmas, take time to make yourself feel better by what you put into your body day in and day out. Don't stress over what your body looks like; instead, make personal goals to exercise and treat your body right every day. This will not only improve your overall physical health, but it will also increase the strength of your mental health as well. As young millennial women, we are faced with such exaggerated media that perceives the perfect woman as someone with a stick figure. With these stereotypes floating around, it is essential to grow in your mental health and begin to love yourself immensely.

2. Pray more

Being the busy people that we are, it is hard to remember to take time for our spiritual lives. Nonetheless, God has created so many opportunities for us that it is important to take time and worship him wholeheartedly. Make yourself accountable this year and join a Bible study or attend youth group or church with friends. I know that without my roommates and friends I would not have grown as much as I did in my faith this year. They truly hold me accountable and provide me with daily reminders to take time for our Lord and Savior.

3. Spend an hour or two at your favorite study spot each day

With a new semester comes a lot of new responsibilities. It is a great practice to begin studying in your favorite coffee shop or spot in the library. This will help assist you in your studies as well as create a positive domino effect for the rest of your semester. You will be able to spend more time hanging out with friends and participating in clubs/organizations once you have completed your work load for the day. This resolution is something that I plan to achieve in 2018, as I strive to obtain a Dean's List honor. With your friends' helpful encouragement and company, you will be able to strive immensely this academic semester.

4. Make time for friends and family

Again, millennials obtain a busy life schedule with plenty of meetings, schoolwork, and activities; however, it is important to remember to take time for your friends and family. Make it a plan to converse with your family at least once a week. This will help you with homesickness as well as give you some time for yourself. Also, make sure to hang out with friends and de-stress, as the life of a college student can seem like a gruesome few years. It's always important to take time for those individuals and build up your relationships.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
