As Kylie Jenner wisely spoke at the start of 2016, “This year is like, the year of just realizing stuff”. And realize stuff, we did.
I thought it would be nice to look back on the year, and reflect on what exactly I’ve realized. So, in no particular order- here’s a convoluted list of things I learned in 2016.
I’ve learned that the Nissan Sentra looks an awful lot like a default Uber vehicle, so don’t park too long downtown.
I’ve learned that being part of a group is not as important as being comfortable by yourself.
I’ve learned I can easily see through people's bullshit (most of the time).
I’ve learned that putting thai peanut sauce on anything can make it delicious.
I’ve learned that you should be honest when you don't know something.
I’ve learned that wine sounds a lot better than it ends up being.
I’ve learned that I'm allowed to say no.
I’ve learned that if it’s a 10 hour flight- first class is worth it.
I’ve learned how important it is to be, rather than seem.
I’ve learned that for the low-low price of $49.99, your email address can be yourname@lilybrundin.com.
I’ve learned that nobody cares if your hair is undone or your lipstick doesn't suit your face.
I’ve learned that dressing up can make you feel better.
I’ve learned that waking up early feels waaaaay better than sleeping til noon.
I’ve learned that people don't have to get along.
I've learned that you can't expect people to be anything other than what they are.
I’ve learned that people think differently than me, and that doesn't make either of us wrong.
I’ve learned that I refuse to be a negative energy.
I’ve learned that it’s so important to set specific goals.
I’ve learned that loving your life as it is, is just as important as planning for the future.
I’ve learned that the fight isn't worth it.
I’ve learned to not settle.
I’ve learned that a chrome manicure costs $50. (Bonus- I’ve learned that they don’t tell you that until you swipe your card).
I've learned that humanity has a long way to go.
I’ve learned to not get caught up with what people think. The only person who has to deal with your life is you.
I’ve learned that the law of attraction is real.
I’ve learned that a venti soy latte with gingerbread and 2 extra shots of espresso is a $9 drink.
I’ve learned that you don't have to be what people expect of you.
I have learned that it's important to be honest about your shortcomings, but to never sell yourself short.
Kylie was right, you guys.
