2015 As Told By 'Hamilton'

If you know anything about musical theater, or were alive in the past six months, then you know that "Hamilton" has taken the world over by storm. This hit Broadway show, that tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, rolled up to Broadway and immediately became everything that anyone could talk about. "Hamilton" tells the story of our country through a hip-hop style and modern-day thoughts -- so how can this trendy show not be applied to the trends of 2015?

1. Selfie Sticks

Selfie sticks started almost as a joke but quickly grew to something far more. These helpful little sticks have helped us worldwide. Well, that is for the locations they haven't been banned in yet.

2. Squad Goals

Taylor Swift seemed to have started the trend of Squad Goals by accumulating a flawless friend group and showing them off on Instagram. She inspired #Squadgoals everywhere.

3. Netflix and Chill

Netflix has been growing in popularity over the past few years, but now it has moved up to a new extreme. The new "dating" term involves inviting someone over to watch Netflix and hang out. All of the rage in 2015.

4. Waist Trainers

Celebrities, such as the Kardashian sisters, have shown us the importance of the waist trainer in 2015. Bringing the colonial garb back into style.

5. Relationship Goals

Pictures of "perfect couples" have been showing up all over the internet as our relationship goals. For some people this may involve Netflix and a pizza. To each his own. Just remember things may not always be as perfect as they seem (Hamilton and Eliza).

6. Donald Trump

Donald Trump's run for presidency has made him quite the household name. In 2015, his popularity has peaked as he's hosted SNL, had several interviews, and was on the cover of Time Magazine. Remember that time Donald Trump said we should build a wall to keep the immigrants out? In the words of Hamilton: "Immigrants, they get the job done!"

7. Feminism

Feminism is still an important issue in today's society to discuss, even in 2015. Empowering women to rise up and argue for their rights is something that we must continue to do. Celebrities such as Emma Watson, Rowan Blanchard, Taylor Swift, and Beyonce strive to empower women across the world and inspire us to all be feminists. Work!

8. Star Wars

With the release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," this franchise has been literally everywhere. Grocery stores, toy stores, commercials -- it is everywhere you look. People began running to the theaters December 18 for the release of Episode VII.

9. Sustainability

Eliza is accurately describing the feelings of us and the planet when we aren't sustainable. Recycling, composting, and being waste free became an important topic that everyone began to notice. Universities, businesses, and events everywhere are noticing the importance of reducing waste and helping to conserve our planet.

10. Face on Fleek

Eyebrows. Contouring. Lips. 2015 was the year of the face. Everything had to be "on fleek" and #flawless. Makeup tutorials and products were popping up this year to give everyone the "flawless" and celeb-like look.

11. Self Empowerment

Be true to yourself, make this your year, do you. This is an important lesson that didn't arise in 2015 or only stands true for 2015, but every year. Do you. Make a difference. Rise up.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
