Okay, we are all thankful for more than just our sororities. We have family and friends and many more things to be thankful for, but the letters you wear just about everyday matter just as much.
1. Your Chapter.
Every chapter is different, but obviously the chapter you belongs to is the best. You eats, sleeps, and breathe your chapter, and you’re are perfectly fine with it.
2. Your Big/Little.
Receiving a big/ little is probably the most exciting feeling ever. Spending endless hours buying gifts and crafting the cutest little things just for someone who is probably more important than a significant other. Being able to go to her for anything and having a special bond makes both college and being life a lot easier. Life without her would be a wreck.
3. The support system between you and your sisters.
Struggling in a class? Having boy trouble? Your sisters are there to help. They have the best advice, whether you want to hear it or not, they’re always right.
4. Life long friends.
You tell someone you are in a sorority and they assume you just bought your friends. Well, the thing is, you don't have to be good friends with the girls in your chapter. You’re close with your chapter because you spend most of your time with them. You live with them, see them every single day, and probably talk to them more than you talk to your parents. You get super close over time and that’s a great feeling.
5. The memories.
Every girl has that one memory that she never wants to forget. Whether it was receiving her bid and crying her way to the chapter house, or being an alumna and looking back at all of the good times she had while in college, every moment holds a special place in her heart.
6. The ability to craft anything.
Okay, we all have that one sister who is basically the Picasso of the chapter and can free hand anything. Everyone goes to her when it comes to crafting and she never says no to it because she loves it.
7. Your college/ university.
Every school is different. Greek life is either really big, or super small. Either way, you’re thankful for having the ability to experience something so great.
8. A group of girl to do crazy things with.
Whether it is a night out or even running to Taco Bell late at night in the freezing cold, there is always a group of girls willing to go with you.
9. The best sisters ever.
They are called sisters for a reason. You are all so similar and yet so different at the same time, it is like you all are actually family. Every chapter has a mom that takes care of every single situation, and that one sister who is annoying and crazy, but you can't help but love her.
10. Trusting your sisters with anything.
Majority of the time the things you tell your sisters is usually something ridiculous you did that weekend or before you were in your chapter, but it can also be something personal. You can definitely count on your sisters to keep it a secret, trust me.
11. There is always a shoulder to cry on.
Usually, it’s the mom of the group who you go to for this, but if mom isn't available, a group message or banging on someone's door will be sufficient too.
12. Having one giant closet.
Whether you’re back home or on campus, half of the clothes in your closet aren't even yours. That shirt one of your sisters wore in that one Instagram picture that got a LOT of likes? That’s your shirt she’s wearing.
13. Getting ready together.
There is always that one girl who can curl hair or apply makeup like she was born with that gift.
14. That one fraternity you are completely obsessed with.
You see them around campus everywhere you go. It’s like they’re following you around. They say hello to you every time you see them and you always feel welcomed when you go to their house(s). They treat you like you’re one of their brothers, except a lot better. Oh, and you probably have more shirts with their letters on it than your own.
15. There is always someone to take pictures with you or for you.
Bid day. Functions. Philanthropies. Birthdays. Graduation. There is always someone willing to take endless pictures with you.
16. The laughs.
Even though times can be hard, there will always be memories that can make you laugh harder than you did the first time. That embarrassing moment from freshman year will still haunt you, and you have no reason but to laugh.
17. You will never eat alone, ever.
Food brings everyone together. Whether it is a family dinner at the chapter house, ordering pizza late at night, or going to the dining halls mid-day for lunch. There is always a group of girls who will get food with you.
18. Going on adventures together.
Whether it’s going to the lake across town or going across the country for spring break, these adventures will make the best memories.
19. Meeting other girls from different chapters and ABSOLUTELY loving them!
Having the opportunity to go out and see girls wearing the letters that you live by is a great feeling. Talking to them and exchanging numbers is, too, a great feeling.
20. Watching your chapter grow bigger and better.
Whether you are about to graduate and looking back at how far your chapter has come, or being a freshman and already seeing the potential in your pledge class for future positions, the feeling of knowing that everything will turn out quite alright makes every sorority girl, a happy one.
