20 Signs That You Might Be Obsessed With Dogs

1. You follow @marniethedog or @itsdougthepug on Instagram.

2. You slowly melt inside every time you see a dog.

3. You talk to dogs as if they completely understand whatever you're saying.

4. And when you do talk to dogs, it's in a baby voice.

5. If there's even the slightest possibility of you living alone, you picture yourself with 99 dogs, not cats.

6. And though it may be long, you watch the dog show story every time it shows up on Snapchat.

7. You have a mental list of dogs you'd like to own in the future.

8. You've considered getting a dog with the excuse of emotional support in college.

9. If you have a dog, then you obviously already have them as your phone background.

10. You probably even have them featured on every social media.

11. And they're probably all over your Snapchat story when you go back home.

12. You have to change the channel every time you hear the beginnings of the SPCA commercial with Sarah McLachlan.

13. It makes you day a thousand times better when you hear of dogs that have been given a second chance at life.

14. You've shared this photo at least once against the stigma of pit bulls.

15. You just assume everyone is a dog person, and if someone doesn't like dogs, you like them a little less.

16. When you do find a dog, you will take a picture with them, even if they're not your own.

17. If you didn't need money, you would dog sit for free. Every. Single. Time.

18. You're unashamed to have watched all the children's dog movies: "Beethoven," "Air Bud," "Snow Buddies" and "All Dogs Go to Heaven," just to name a few.

19. When a dog sneezes you feel the need to say bless you.

20. And you've always kept your love for dogs (and animals in general) at the forefront of your mind since the beginning.

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement. Now, I realize that you can't fully be there for other people unless you're there for yourself, too. You can't show up for others until you're willing to show up for yourself.

Here are five things everyone should learn in order to be a better friend to themselves. These steps are hard, but they're so worth it.

If you’re from the Midwest, it seems to be that winter lasts for what feels like forever. But despite the struggles that winter brings, there are so many things to love about it.

It happens to all of us, the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas the catch up with you.

Thanksgiving Break is most likely everyone’s favorite break during the fall semester. You get to go home and reminisce with all your high school friends. That diet you’ve been on for the past month goes out the window, and you get to eat until you put yourself into a food coma. There’s no rush on homework and you can just lie in bed and Netflix to your heart’s content. To me that sounds like an ideally wonderful break, and totally stress-free.
