Quite often we hear the expression, "It's about the little things that make life worth living."

I am not sure if you agree or disagree, but one thing I can assure you is that quite often the "big things" are the sum of many little things.

If you think of love, it is not just "love" but what makes of it. Such as support, laughter, getting through hardships together, being there for one another, learning about one another and all of the little things in between.

As school starts back up, we get back into our routines, another summer behind us, it's easy to get bogged down in our day to day life and forget to appreciate all of the little joys in like that make worth living.

Here a list to remind you of the wonderful "little things" that make our lives worth living...

1. A hug from someone you love.

2. When you first notice the trees are changing color in the fall.

3. The joy of cracking open a new book.

4. That first sip of coffee on a cold morning.

5. A great hair day.

6. The feeling after a good workout.

7. Petting a dog.

8. A phone call with your parents.

9. Pay day.

10. Discovering a song you like.

11. A new sweatshirt that fits just right.

12. Clean laundry.

13. A free afternoon.

14. Finishing a Netflix series.

15. When your phone is fully charged.

16. The smell outside after it rains.

17. Crawling into bed after a long day.

18. A good laugh.

19. A kiss on the forehead.

20. Laying down on the grass.

As we set back into our routines, remember the little things and be thankful for them. Don't take anything for granted, not the foliage on your ride to work, not that cozy sweater and especially not that first sip of coffee.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
