In the 7,476 days I've been on this planet, I've learned a few things about this life. I've learned how to read, write, speak and communicate with others. I've learned right from wrong. I've learned the Quadratic formula over and over again. I've learned what it means to be a decent human being. I've learned that you can learn something new every day, from anyone. And I've especially learned to never, under any circumstance, try to shape your eyebrows with a razor. You'll end up with one eyebrow shaven completely off on your seventh grade picture day and your mom will have to pencil in the other one for the following months to come. Twenty life lessons we can learn in short twenty years:

1. It is okay to want to see the good in everyone.

Just make sure that you also remember that there are people out there who will want to take advantage of you for this. Do not let it stop you.

2. You are not your numbers.

This includes your weight, your IQ level, your GPA, the number of people you have slept with, your age, your height, your salary, or the number of likes you have on Facebook. These things do not define you.

3. Water and oil do not mix...

and they never will. Remember this next time you try to force a relationship.

4. Happiness is a choice.

5. Expiration dates are put on food labels for a reason.

Do not ignore them.

6. Understand that bad things happen to good people sometimes.

And this is just part of life.

7. It is okay to cry.

It does not mean you are weak. Just as long as you wipe away your tears after you are done and you get back up.

8. Wearing someone else's sweatshirt is 100 times better than wearing your own.

This is just science.

9. Do not let anybody tell you that you're too young to understand something.

Especially love.

10. Creativity can come from anywhere and anyone.

Never underestimate someone, you never know from where or whom the next big idea will come from.

11. Technology is cool...

but so is human interaction. Connect with people on an emotional level.

12. Your math teachers are lying to you,

you will never need to find the second derivative of a function. Unless maybe you're going to work for NASA one day, then hey study away.

13. Volunteers are always needed.

Find the time.

14. You are never too busy to spend time with your family.

Find the time.

15. You will actually lose brain cells from watching "Jersey Shore".

However, your brain isn't done fully developing until your late 20's, so you can probably spare some cells if you're young and willing.

16. Respect is a two-way street.

If you want to get it, you must give it.

17. Confidence is key.

Once you accept it, you will radiate success.

18. Nothing good ever happens after 2 a.m.

Just go to bed.

19. Rescue dogs are the best dogs.

20. "All it takes is 20 seconds of insane courage...and I promise you something great will come of it."

Just 20 seconds of embarrassing bravery.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
