2016 so far has sucked. We lost a few icons in the same week, people are boycotting the Oscars, "Star Wars Episode VIII" got pushed back to December 2017, and what once looked like a promising Suicide Squad movie is now turning into a joke (mostly thanks to Jared Leto's artificial insanity). That's why I figured it was time to take a minute and appreciate what's to come.
1. New season of "Broad City"
The queens are back Feb. 17 on Comedy Central.
2. Dallas Stars are going to win the Stanley Cup
Although I might be slightly biased, the Dallas Stars are killing it this year. They're a strong contender for the cup this year.
3. The 1975 is releasing a new album (and it's so poppy, it's fantastic)
"I LIKE IT WHEN YOU SLEEP, FOR YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL YET SO UNAWARE OF IT" will be released February 26th.
4. Coldplay is playing at the Super Bowl
Granted, not as exciting as Beyoncé or MIA, but way better than Katy Perry.
5. After November, we don't have to hear about Trump anymore
Please, do not elect this man to office so that we can forget about him already.
6. Canada elected a really awesome PM
Canada's new prime minister is exactly what we need, and you best believe that whatever happens to them will trickle down to the US. So, cheers to Justin Trudeau. Keep being a badass.
7. UTA Basketball is kicking ass and taking names
When your school doesn't have a football team, it can lead to a very low school spirit level. But when your basketball team is currently undefeated at home and has beaten Ohio State, you better believe that it pumps up the entire campus.
8. Syrian refugees are being accepted in countries
In things that shouldn't have to be considered big wins, people who are fleeing their home country due to war are now welcome to places like Canada and some areas of the United States.
9. "Big Bang Theory" is finally going off the air
How did this not happen 10 seasons ago?
10. "Captain America: Civil War" comes out in May
Which side are you on?
11. People have stopped pretending JLaw is good at acting
I'm so over pretending that Jennifer Lawrence is anything but an average actress. I don't understand the fascination.
12. "Bob's Burgers" is back
First episode airs on FOX January 17.
13. Kanye's gone back to his roots
Kanye's newest album deviates from Yeezus and reminds me more of the Kanye we fell in love with on his Late Registration album.
14. Harry Styles and Avril Lavigne might be collaborating
Quite possibly the weirdest thing I've ever head, but I'm here for it.
15. Potential Spice Girls reunion
There is a rumor going around that the Spice Girls will do a reunion tour with Backstreet Boys. My inner 90s baby is screaming.
16. John Boyega exists
Enough said.
17. T Swift doesn't have a new album coming out
Which means we don't have to listen to the same three songs on the radio every hour!
18. The "Friends" cast is reuniting
About time. And no, it's not for another show. It's part of a program honoring Jim Burrow, who was a director of "Friends."
19. Adele is going on tour
You best believe they'll be handing out complementary tissues and waterproof mascara.
20. Tremendous strides have been made in terms of equality, and they'll continue to get better.
The Oscars has promised to double their women and minority numbers by 2020, which will led to more representation in Hollywood. Which rocks.
