If you're a high school or college student, Valentine's Day is hard when you have a budget. Here's a list of inexpensive gifts and date ideas to celebrate this Hallmark holiday with your significant other.

Gift Ideas:

1. Homemade Coupons

As cheesy as they may be, homemade coupons are of sentimental value. A free back rub or date night on them can make your significant other happy.

2. Flowers

Sometimes flowers can be a little pricey, but they smell nice and will make your girlfriend (or boyfriend) smile.

3. "52 Reasons I Love You" Playing Cards

I used this idea for Christmas and it is just a sweet, personal (and inexpensive) way to tell someone how you love them.

4. Heart Pizza

Another inexpensive gift is making (or ordering) a heart shaped pizza. You and your S.O.'s heart (and stomach!) will be nice and full.

5. Candy

A V-Day must is candy. Get your girl/boyfriend their favorite candy in a cute, festive bag or jar.

6. Photo Frame/Collage

If you have lots of couple pictures, make a collage or pick your favorite to frame and let your S.O. admire it forever (or as long as your relationship lasts).

7. Clothing

You can't go wrong with a nice shirt, scarf or hat to get through the final winter months.

8. "Open When..." letters

This gift is one that keeps on giving. It's personal and doesn't cost a dime, unless you need to go buy some envelopes.

9. Scrapbook/Memory Box

If you've been together awhile, it's nice to keep markers to remember the fun things you've done together. This could include pictures, receipts, movie tickets, etc.

10. Jar of Date Ideas

Although this will cost money in the long run, the idea is nice. Pre-planning dates helps the decision making, and it's nice to know that your S.O. is planning for your future (it's the little things!).

Date Ideas:

1. Movie Night

Take "netflix and chill" to the next level by having a fun movie night. Add popcorn and snacks for extra fun.

2. Nature Walk

Weather permitting, going on a nice walk will give you the opportunity to spend some quality time together.

3. Homemade Dinner

Forget an expensive dinner out-cooking at home will give you the time you need together and won't put a dent in your wallet.

4. Movie Matinee

Most movie theaters have early showings that are a good bit cheaper than normal prices. Take an afternoon and see the new movie you've both been dying to see, for half the price.

5. Picnic

Again, weather permitted, a picnic is a fun way to spice up lunchtime.

6. Board games/Video games

Let your competitive sides loose while you play Life or Monopoly for the next 5 hours.

7. Stargazing

Whether it's laying in the back yard or just looking out the window, this calming way to end the night is a great way to close out V-Day with your S.O.

8. Bake Cookies Together

This is a fun way to spend a day/evening together with a yummy ending.

9. Try Out a New Hobby

Whether it's yoga or model plane buildings, finding something the two of you can do together is priceless.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
