Sushi has been there for us in all times of need. We owe this magical food all of the love and kudos in the world. Here are 17 times when sushi was the absolute reason for your very being.

1. When the good old faithful was there for you when you were starving at 2 a.m.

2. When you wanted something to satisfy your nomz cravings and sushi proved itself as a slightly healthier, equally delicious alternative to the otherwise inevitable choice of pizza and you felt less guilty.

3. When you discovered that spicy mayo was a thing and you started putting it on everything #spicymayo4lyfe.

4. When you decided to be adventurous and try something besides rolls.

(OMG nigiri. OMG sashimi. OMG tamago. What is this magic!?)

5. When the AAC and Cucumber rolls fit perfectly into your healthy eating regiment and you were overjoyed.

6. When your tempura-fried, cream-cheese-filled Sunday Morning roll totally ruined your healthy eating regiment and you weren't even mad.

7. Two words: Conveyor-belt Sushi.

8. When you occasionally treat-yo-self to the delightful side of miso soup or edamame.

9. When you realized that sushi is the reason why you can actually eat with a pair of chopsticks.

10. When your neighborhood, hole-in-the-wall, half-price sushi joint saved you from starvation and bankruptcy. (We've all been there. Gbless.)

11. When some crazy person invented this ridiculous bacon sushi.

12. When someone made this adorable panda sushi.

13. When you look at a sushi menu and you feel that rush of overwhelming excitement (and slight anxiety) because you have so many choices and everything looks so good.

14. When the fancy, gourmet, expensive sushi is sort of too much for you to handle but like also so amazing and innovative.

15. When someone decided that sushi would make great costumes for cats.

16. When sushi to-go was the perfect lunch at work or at school or on your couch and didn't have to worry about it getting cold bc it's sushi, duh.

17. When you walk out of that sushi place, so satisfied, every time, feeling so eternally grateful for what has become of Japanese-American cuisine. #godblessamerica

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
