17 Things Everyone Should Say More Often

Because "please" and "thank you" aren't the only words to remember.

Some weeks the days go on forever, the stress overwhelms every hour, and the words we should be exchanging are often lost in translation. Words we didn’t have the energy to utter are swallowed, and moments we could’ve shared never occur. Between the words forgotten and those not said in the first place, we fall quite short of the mark. So keep whispering sweet nothings, shouting greetings at the top of your lungs, and sharing your honest opinion – I promise you won’t regret it.

1. I appreciate you.

Show someone that their actions in this world don’t go unnoticed. Show him or her you see the good they’re doing in the world.

2. Thank you (for everything).

Not a superficial, out-of-habit “thank you,” but a sincere thank you charged with tangible gratitude. Tell someone “thank you” for something out of the ordinary.

3. Today is a good day.

Seeing is believing, right? I like to think saying is believing too. How lucky you are to have made it to today! Breathe it all in.

4. I’m sorry.

Sometimes, the recognition of a fault is the hardest part. It all begins by recognizing the part you played and admitting to your mistake. Avoid over-apologizing, but give apologies where apologies are due.

5. I forgive you.

Holding on to hurt, anger, and shame will only harm yourself in the end. Life’s too short to lose people over grudges.

6. Agree to disagree.

Don’t always agree with people! Respect their personal opinion, then share your own.

7. I was wrong (and you were right).

Own up to the fact that you don’t always do or say the exact right thing.

8. I am lucky to know you.

Share your gratitude with your friends! Don’t let them forget their importance in your life.

9. You’re the GOAT.

I"m the Greatest Of All Time, so I’ve been told. I don’t know where this came from, but it should be said more often.

10. I’m struggling.

Embrace weakness, for from it you gain so much strength. No one is perfect -- let’s stop pretending to be!

11. I need help.

Let others pick up some of the burden you feel. Chances are they will be more than happy (and will come to you next time they’re weak!).

12. Can I help you?

Offer even if you think the answer may be no. Offer to help the elderly, to do the dishes, to do the heavy lifting.

13. Want to come?

What’s up with the exclusivity nowadays! Bring back “the more the merrier.”

14. Let’s do it together.

You know what they say about team work … But really, in all seriousness, this life is too crazy to go at it alone.

15. You can do it.

Be an encourager. Tell someone you believe in them and inspire them to keep going.

16. I admire you.

Don’t forget to remind people of the ways in which they’ve inspired you and continue to do so. You’re about to make someone’s day.

17. I am happy.

Let your positive thoughts floor your mood. Happy thoughts are the difference between a good day and a bad day.

Keep on smilin’.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
