17 Thank Yous To Softball Parents
Jessica Taylor

For anyone who plays or has played sports, your parents have always been your No. 1 fans and harshest critics. Maybe one parent more than the other, but you know you couldn't do it without them. I know I've thanked my parents, but not nearly as much as I should've. Here's to the best parents I could've asked for.

1. Thank you for teaching me how to throw and hit.

2. Thank you for getting up at the crack of dawn countless numbers of times to take me to tournaments.

3. Thank you for sitting in the blazing sun or freezing cold, cheering me on.

4. Thank you for spending so much time and money on me.

5. Thank you for always believing in me and teaching me how to believe in myself.

6. Thank you for sitting through games where I completely embarrass myself, but reminding me I'm still OK.

7. Thank you for traveling across the country with me just so I could chase my dream.

8. Thank you for supporting me no matter the circumstances.

9. Thank you for not saying anything to me after that game.

10. Thank you for spending your days throwing, hitting or pitching to me.

11. Thank you for putting up with my attitude after games.

12. Thank you for believing that I could play collegiate softball, even when it didn't seem possible.

13. Thank you for being the harshest critics.

14. Thank you for being there for me through such a difficult recruiting process.

15. Thank you for being there through all of the injuries.

16. Thank you for never giving up on me, even when I wanted to give up on myself.

17. Most importantly, thank you for being the best parents I could ever ask for.

Mom and Dad,

There are no words to describe how grateful I am to have such wonderful and amazing parents. Without y'all, this dream I had wouldn't be a reality. Thank you for pushing me to my limits for the past 15 years. Dad, thanks for hitting balls at me over 100 mph when I was eight years old and preparing me for elite level softball. Mom, thanks for being the person I come to when dad gets on my last nerves. And to the both of you, thank you for being my No. 1 fans and harshest critics. There's not enough love in the world to describe how much I love y'all.

Love,

Jessica

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
