In the month of August 2015, a musical titled "Hamilton" hit Broadway at the Richard Rogers theater. And ever since that summer day, it has exploded the world of musical theater. "Hamilton" is the hottest ticket in town, and for very good reason. Ever since its first weeks of production, it has been nearly impossible to get a ticket. It has charmed every single person who has had the pleasure to see it and has revolutionized the world of Broadway. I am fortunate to be able to say that I had the absolute pleasure of seeing "Hamilton" twice, and let me tell you: It is just as amazing as everyone has made it out to be. It is a genius production and deserves all the praise that it is receiving. So, here are 17 reasons why "Hamilton" is the best thing to ever happen.

*Warning: Article contains spoilers but honestly, all of this happened 200 years ago so pick up a history book or buy tickets to "Hamilton"*

1. Rap Music

"Hamilton" is a story of America's first Treasury Security, Alexander Hamilton. The show chronicles his life from the time he immigrated to America, battled for freedom, and eventually (spoilers) dies at the hands of Vice President Aaron Burr. And all of this is told through rap and hip hop music. Yes, rap music. And it's amazing. It is so unique, fun and relatable and goes perfectly with the content of the show. Many laugh when they hear that a musical consists of rap music, especially one that takes place in 1776, but believe me, it works. And trust me, there is nothing better than watching Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson rap battle at a cabinet meeting about foreign affairs and the US financial system.

2. Genius Lyrics

Not only is the actual genre of music that is used in the show amazing, but the actual lyrics flow smoothly and are ingenious. The opening of the show, "How does a bastard orphan, son of a whore and a Scotsman, dropped in the middle of a forgotten spot in the Caribbean by providence impoverished, in squalor, grow up to be a hero and a scholar? The ten-dollar founding father without a father got a lot farther by working a lot harder by being a lot smarter by being a self-starter, by fourteen they placed him in charge of a trading charter," tells SO much in just two sentences and a few measures. And from that point on, through the rest of the show, the lyrics continue to flow like poetry and tell a truly beautiful story. My favorite lyric? When Aaron Burr sings, "Death doesn't discriminate, between the sinners and the saints, It takes and it takes and it takes and it takes. But, we keep living anyways. We rise and we fall and we break and we make our mistakes."

3. Historical Accuracy

Lin-Manuel, the composer, and star of the show was initially inspired by Ron Chernow's full biography of Alexander Hamilton. He picked it up at an airport before going on vacation so he would have something to read on his break, and ended up writing a whole 2.5 hour musical about it. In addition to the biography, he delved into much more in depth research, learning everything he could about Alexander Hamilton and his incredibly interesting and dramatic life. Because of him, the show turns out to be incredibly historically accurate. Because a whole life is condensed into such a short span of time, there are some changes that had to be made in the way the story was told, and some minor details were altered to make the story able to progress as a drama, but for the most part, Lin-Manuel did an amazing job of telling a true American Story.

4. It's Emotional

Nothing will make you sob more than watching Alexander and Eliza Hamilton watch their first son die tragically from a gunshot wound after defending his father's honor. Unless it's watching as Alexander breaks his wife's heart and publishes his affair for the whole world to see. Strangely, the story of Alexander Hamilton feels relatable, and thus, emotional. It's hard to get through even listening to the soundtrack without shedding a few tears. Sadness is not the only emotion to be felt. The production induces one to feel inspired, proud, happy, and so much more. Who knew our founding fathers lived such tragic, emotional and drama-filled lives?

5. It's Hilarious

It's not all tears and heartbreak. In addition to the show being very emotional, it is also hilarious. Nothing is funnier than Jonathon Groff strutting across the stage dressed up as the King of England singing a breakup song to America after losing the Revolutionary War. There are so many outright knee-slapping moments in the show that it's impossible not to enjoy. It's what makes the show so well rounded and amazing.

6. Diversity

The most unique, unexpected, and amazing attribute that Hamilton brings to Broadway is its incredible diversity within the cast. The cast members don't exactly look physically accurate to the real life founding fathers they are portraying but instead resemble what America looks like today. Alexander Hamilton, George Washington, James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson are all played by Hispanic or African American males. But it doesn't matter. There is never a second during the performance that you don't believe that the amazing Daveed Diggs is actually Thomas Jefferson. When casting, they did not see race or color. They saw amazing talent and people they thought could tell this story the best way they could. Hamilton is adding diversity to the Broadway stage, refusing to type cast, and giving amazing opportunity to amazing actors.

7. Amazingly Talented Leads

The talent in Hamilton is overwhelming. I need to take a moment to truly recognize how amazing each portrayal is. Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr is powerful, inspirational and transforming. He does an impeccable job of playing "the villain in our history books." His role really humanizes a man that is thought of as evil by the ones who study him and it's remarkable. Christopher Jackson as George Washington is strong, believable and so charming. His vocals in "One Last Time" give me, and everyone else, goosebumps. He is amazingly talented and such a genuinely nice person. (I actually ran into him outside the theater and got to talk to him about the show!!) Jonathon Groff as King George is hilarious, crowd-pleasing and all around lovely. Even Beyonce wanted to steal his strut after seeing him perform.

Phillipa Soo as Eliza Schuyler/Hamilton is beautiful, emotional, and extremely moving throughout the show. First, when she "helplessly" falls in love with Hamilton then when her heart is broken, and finally when she rises above and creates an amazing legacy. Phillipa flawlessly captivates the audience with every move she makes. Renee Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler is strong, personable, and constantly has the audience in the palm of her hand. Daveed Diggs as Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson is hilarious, insanely impressive, and flawless.

Both his luscious hair and his ability to rap at light speed are enough to make anyone swoon. Anthony Ramos as John Laurens and Phillip Hamilton is engaging, believable, and heart wrenching. Not only does he die at the end of Act 1 as John Laurens, but again as Phillip Hamilton. And any adult who can pull off a nine-year-old is amazing in my book. Okieiete Onaodowan is charming, intense, and adorable as James Madison and Hercules Mulligan. And finally, Jasmine Cephas Jones as Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds is sultry, entrancing, and amazing. Her vocals in "Say No To This" make you forget that her charm is what causes so much turmoil in Hamilton's life.

8. The Equally Amazing Ensemble

The characters with named roles aren't the only ones who deserve praise. The ensemble is full of amazingly talented individuals who make the show run. Many of them are not only part of the permanent ensemble but are understudies and swings for other roles. They play smaller roles, work as soldiers, civilians, bullets, and so much more. They dance, they sing, they act. The ensemble makes the show what it is and they are an extremely talented one. The show would not go on without them.

9. Lin-Manuel Miranda

And, of course, the genius himself who made all of this come to life: Lin-Manuel Miranda. Lin-Manuel, the writer, composer, and star of the show is an amazing human being and talent. He is truly a genius. Lin plays Alexander Hamilton in the production and from the moment he steps on stage, the crowd goes wild. There are not enough kind words to say about this man.

10. The Ham4Ham Lottery and Performances

Tickets to "Hamilton" are expensive AF. Mostly, because they are sold out and the only way you can get them for any time in the next year is through ticket master resale for double their original selling price. But, Lin-Manuel and the rest of the "Hamilton" production staff decided that for every performance, they would raffle off the entire front row's worth of seats for $10 each. Hense, Ham4Ham. That means each night, to this day, 21 lucky people get to sit front row for only $10. In addition to that, every few nights there is a Ham4Ham performance. Earlier in the year, these performances were done live outside the theater for the hundreds (sometimes thousands) of people who would wait for the lottery. Now, the lottery and performances are done online. This means not only is the production losing money that they could be selling these tickets for, but members of the cast and crew take time out of their hectic schedules to record videos every week for the fans to watch. Amazing.

11. The Soundtrack

Getting a ticket is nearly impossible. But, lucky for us the "Hamilton" soundtrack is almost just as great. The soundtrack is all 46 songs from the show, which besides one small scene, is constant music anyways. So, listening to the soundtrack is just like listening to a real performance. You don't miss anything.

12. The Choreography

The choreography flawlessly demonstrates and portrays the story that is occurring on stage. Whether it's the smooth sharp and brutal movements that show the war in action or the mixture of modern and old fashion dancing that happens at the Winter's Ball, the movements are brilliant and understated. They add flare and appeal to the show. Each move is purposeful and precise and comes together incredibly as a whole. The staging in "Satisfied" when the entire scene reverses is the most impeccable demonstration of powerful movement I have ever seen on a Broadway stage.

13. The Vocals

The power that comes off the stage and protrudes into the audience at the Richard Rodgers theater is like nothing else. The complexity and strength of the vocals are nothing but amazing. Whether a lead is soloing, or the whole cast comes together to belt out a single line, there are constant goosebumps. The cast blends together into one single revolutionary voice. That voice can be haunting, inspiring, heartbreaking, and incredibly inspirational. That voice is amazing. The vocals in "Hamilton" are simply stunning.

14. The Orchestrations and Musical Themes

Lin-Manuel is like I said, a genius. And his compositions and use of musical themes are therefore genius as well. Each character has their own personality in the lines they sing. There are repeating musical themes that make their way across the show and into multiple songs. It is the true mark of an amazing score when you can recognize melodies overlapping into several parts of the production. The orchestra and the conductor bring these themes to life every night and show off how amazing the music in the show is.

15. The Set

The story would be nothing if there was no set for it to take place on. The "Hamilton" set is perfectly simple and understated. It consists of a few minimal set pieces and moving parts. But it is perfect. The staircase can move to create differences in setting, and the whole middle of the stage can revolve when necessary to create the effects of both a hurricane and walking long distance. But what makes the set come to life is the amazing lighting cues. The lighting cues are fast and abundant. They transform a stage into a bar, a battlefield, a hurricane, and more. They provoke emotion and bring the show to life.

16. Tells An Honest and True American Story

"Hamilton" brings to life a story that has been in our history books since before any person still on earth was born. But unlike other American stories, this one is truly relatable to all, not only to those who are directly involved or linked to the lives of the founding fathers, but to every American. It doesn't matter who you are or how long ago your family arrived. "Hamilton" is an immigrant story. It's a revolutionary story. It's a story about ignoring the rules society sets and creating opportunity. "Hamilton" is a story about not throwing away your shot. "Hamilton" has somehow found a way to unite and connect people. It has reminded so many what it means to be American, and it comes at a time where unfortunately the country is divided in just about every way. "Hamilton" is exactly what America, and the rest of the world, needs right now. "Hamilton" is an honest and true American story.

17. Transforming Broadway

"Hamilton" has attracted an entirely new audience to the world of Broadway. For the first time, the Grammy award for Best Musical Theater Album was announced live on the Grammys, right after a performance of "Hamilton" was broadcasted live from the Richard Rodgers theater. The fact that "Hamilton" was able to connect the worlds of mainstream music and musical theater is amazing and a huge step for the world of live theater. "Hamilton" has reminded so many why musical theater is so amazing and important. It has made strides in terms of diversity and given many actors the chance they deserve to perform. "Hamilton" is paving the way towards a new generation of Broadway and ensuring that it will survive for years and years to come.

There's a reason why celebrities like Beyonce, Kanye West, Daniel Radcliff, Amy Schumer, Eminem, Jimmy Fallon, and even the Obama family are finding time and rushing to see "Hamilton" on Broadway. There's a reason that every single person who sees this production had a million things to say about it. There's a reason tickets are almost impossible to get. And, there's a reason that every review, critic, and awards committee gives "Hamilton" the highest of praises. In fact, there are at least 17 reasons, and definitely many more. "Hamilton" is revolutionary and deserves all the praise it receives. "Hamilton" is the best thing to happen to me in a very long time. Basically, "Hamilton" is just the best thing ever. Go see it if you can.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
