The new semester is beginning and that means my team is thinking about how they will be able to submit articles while classes are going on. Instead of just focusing on how they will be able to get it all done, I want to write this listicle of things I would like them to remember throughout the duration of this semester.

1. I understand that you are stressed.

I understand that you will be stressed. I get stressed too. If you need a week for your health, just let me know because I will let you take a break. Healthy creators mean better content!

2. I will be someone you can come to no matter what.

I may be your EIC, but we attend a small college, and if you need anyone for anything at all I will be there in a heart beat.

3. Sharing is still really important.

It may seem like more work to share your article, but you can take the time to share to at least three places every day as you are laying in bed to check your phone.

4. There is a difference between my friendship side and my EIC side.

I want you to all to remember that I will be your friend, but when it comes to Odyssey I have a job to do. Even if we are friends, the quality of my team will always come first. Just because we are friends does not mean you can get away with things. There is a fine line between my two sides, but please do not ever take anything I say to heart when I am trying to be an EIC.

5. Communication is KEY.

If you need an extension or help, just tell me. I cannot read your mind so please just COMMUNICATE.

6. We will have lots of meet ups.

We will meet up for dinner, to better our team, etc.

7. If you need someone to eat a meal with, I am there.

8. We will make Odyssey at our school great again

OK, that sounded like the Trump slogan, but we will achieve this if we work together to share and make AWESOME content.

9. The school wifi sucks.

The school wifi is terrible so it will take even longer to write an article. Which means do not procrastinate because I will just mark you as unexcused.

10. I will be really busy, but I will try my best to reply as fast as I can.

I have a lot on my plate, and I have classes, so I can not reach my phone immediately, so I will do my best to reply to you as fast as I can. I promise that I am not ignoring you.

11. I would like you all to stick out the semester with me.

We will have our ups and downs, but please stick with me through the semester!

12. Tell your friends about us!

Onboarding new people is really important. Talk to your friends about Odyssey, and we could on board them fast. If they have questions give them my contact information. Remember, they can apply here.

13. Deadlines are more important than ever!

With a million things on my schedule I dedicate certain times and days to edit your pieces, therefore, deadlines are extremely important. One could say they are more important than ever.

14. Odyssey style vs. MLA.

Odyssey style is not MLA. Do not write your school papers in Odyssey, and do not write articles in MLA. Remember the difference.

15. Do not give up!

Do not ever give up. Do not give up on Odyssey, on school or on yourself.

16. I value you all so much.

This really doesn't need an explanation.

17. I am not superhuman.

It may seem like I can do everything whenever you need. I am not superhuman and I can not do everything. I will try my best to help you, but I can not guarantee that I will have all the answers.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Bruce Springsteen's Top 7 Lyrics

Everything Bruce says in his classic rock songs.

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

2970
Marconi Beach

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.
