Mostly movies and TV shows.

It's hard to believe that it's already 2016. For some reason, I still feel like 2010 was two years ago...weird. Anyway, a New Year brings new and important events (including a ton of new TV shows and movies, which comprise the majority of this list, mainly because I'm the one writing this article.) However, from the political to the musical, here are 16 things to look forward to in 2016:

1. The American Presidental Election

On November 8th, 2016, we'll finally get an answer as to who's going to lead the United States from 2016-2020.

2. Adele's (Vance Joy's, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber's, etc.) 2016 Tour

2016 is a great year for music. Adele finally comes back to the United States, and other popular musicians, including Vance Joy and Selena Gomez, have world tours as well.

3. Everyone's still going to be discussing "The Force Awakens"

Just because the new Star Wars movie came out in December of 2015 doesn't mean anyone is going to stop talking about in 2016. The movie, which grossed more than both "The Titanic" and "Jurassic World," left more questions than answers, including the big question (SPOILER) of how Rey is related to our favorite Star Wars characters. I thought, like most others, that she was Luke Skywalker's daughter, until I read this convicing theory on how Rey might actually be related to Obi-Wan Kenobi.

4. DC's "Legends of Tomorrow"

2016 is an important year for superheroes. Batman and Superman return in Dawn of Justice, there are new episodes of "Arrow" and "The Flash," "Captain America" faces Ironman in "Civil War," and some of our favorite superheroes, including the White Canary, star in the CW's new TV show, "Legends of Tomorrow."

5. The Final Season of Downton Abbey

Season 6 should help answer some of the questions that have been bugging fans since the beginning.

6. The Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro

In a little over 200 days, from August 5 to August 21st, some of the most famous athletes in the world will travel to Brazil to compete in the summer Olympic games.

7. Taylor Swift's new album??

Taylor Swift hasn't officially announced that she's releasing a new album, but, historically, she's tended to release an album every two years. Since 1989 was released in October 2014, her next album is due by the end of this year!

8. "Captain America: Civil War"

I am the only person I know who is team Captain America (the majority of people are apparently on Ironman's side?). Either way, I am probably going to cry during this entire movie.

9. The Wimbledon

To be honest, I know nothing about the Wimbledon, but I feel obligated to include at least one other sporting event besides the summer Olympics on this list. Therefore, the Wimbledon is happening from June 27th to July 10th this year.

10. Obama's new policies

The President has promised drastic changes in his last year in office, including (finally) the closing of Guantanamo Bay and more action on gun control.

11. The Return of The X-Files

Mulder and Scully come back to television in a 6 episode miniseries starting January 24th.

12. Everyone will (hopefully) stop talking about Donald Trump

I, for one, am really sick about hearing about Donald Trump. Hopefully, when he doesn't win office in November, his terrible campaign will be forgotten.

(I chose not to include a picture of Donald Trump here, because you've probably already seen him too many times)

13. Snow!

I realize we'll probably all get sick of snow by the middle of January, but as of now, I'm pretty excited for it.

14. Ice Skating

Frog Pond, anyone?

15. Voting for the first time

Many college students get to vote for the first time in this 2016 election (Please vote! The more people who turn out, the better.)

16. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

This prequel to the Harry Potter series, starring Eddie Redmayne, comes to theatres on November 18th!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
