16 Struggles Of Being Blonde

If you're like me and have blonde hair, natural or dyed, you'll probably understand the struggles every blonde has had at least in once in their life. Being blonde has so many advantages, but has its disadvantages as well. It can be difficult beating the stereotypes society has laid out for us, but maybe if we can band together, we can show them what being blonde is really about.

1. People assume that you're dumb.

Yes, we've heard that dumb blonde joke. No, we're really not that stupid. Yes, we understand you think the joke is hilarious, but we don't find it funny. No, we're not having a "blonde moment".

2. People also assume that you're extra bitchy.

People, please don't misuse this stereotype. I can promise you not all of us are super bitchy. Some of us are nice people!

3. Our hair gets greasy really fast.

We have to shower every single day or our hair runs the risk of looking greasy and dark. I could touch my hair once and it would look greasy.

4. Roots are your enemy.

Whether you're a natural blonde or you get your dyed, roots are the absolute worst.

5. If you spend too much time in the sun your hair turns white.

You have to love the fact that the sun bleaches our hair out even more.

6. What eyebrows?

If you have naturally blonde eyebrows, they sometimes don't even exist on your face. You have to spend a lot of time filling them in.

7. Red lipstick can wash you out.

If you wear red lipstick, it sometimes tends to make you look severe and can wash out your face. We keep wearing it anyway because it's red lipstick for crying out loud!

8. Wearing any dark color can be problematic.

Our hair shows up on practically any dark color we tend to wear. It doesn't even matter if we've washed it recently, it still finds a way to cling on to every clothing item we own.

9. Split ends are our other enemy.

Blonde hair tends to break faster than other hair colors. This makes it difficult to keep on top of it, so we have to go get trims much more often.

10. Chlorine is the devil.

This is real life. If you're not careful after you go swimming, blonde hair will turn green from chlorine, which is no fun trying to get out.

11. We're pale too you know.

We know you redheads are pale, but we are too. The sun isn't our friend either.

12. Mascara is our best friend.

Without any mascara on, our eyelashes are non-existent.

13. Those bobby pins aren't really "blonde".

We've all tried to use those blonde bobby pins, but they end up never actually matching our shade of blonde and stick out just as badly as brunette ones.

14. Shedding is a huge issue.

If you spend too much time in one place, you leave a pile of blonde hairs when you get up. It's a surprise we have any hair left on our heads.

15. You can't really highlight your hair.

Other than a shade of blonde, of course. You run the risk of having streaky hair if not done right, and no one wants that. Either way, our roots will pop up again in a week.

16. But after everything, our hair is still beautiful.

As is every other hair color. Embrace what you've got!

It stinks because so many people just assume all blondes, natural or dyed, are just shallow, ditzy people. I can promise you we aren't all like that and if you give us a chance to show you our talents, not based on hair color, we could really surprise you. While we have many struggles being blonde, we also have benefits with it, too. Blonde is a sought after color and if you're naturally blonde, that can feel really empowering. So flaunt what you've got, get out there and show off your beautifully blonde hair!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
