E3, the electronic entertainment expo has come and gone, but has left fans across the consoles excited for the future. Sequels, virtual reality and remastered classics all were announced at the annual video game conference and show and it seems gamers have a lot to look forward to. Here are 15 exciting announcements and showcases made at E3 this year.
1. Final Fantasy XV
The long awaited "Final Fantasy XV", which has been in development since 2006, will finally be released this September. The game was announced to have 100 hours of game play, a VR experience and even flying cars.
2. Crash Bandicoot
Another iconic franchise is coming back! The beloved Sony mascot, Crash Bandicoot, will be appearing in "Skylanders Imaginators" and the remastered "Crash Bandicoot 1, 2 and 3" for PS4.
3. Injustice 2
The sequel to the 2013, "Injustice: Gods Among Us" was announced to be released next year. Created by "Mortal Kombat" creator Ed Boon, the fighting game will take mechanics from both the original "Injustice" game and the recent "Mortal Kombat X."
4. Pokémon: Sun and Moon
The next installation of the Pokémon franchise is expected to release later in 2016. New starter and legendary Pokémon have been revealed along with over 30 minutes of game play at E3. A new Battle Royal game play was released at E3, showing players not only battling one on one, but in a four-way, free for all.
5. Resident Evil 7
The trailer for the next sequel in the horror-survival role playing game confused many fans, but creators assured this game was going back to it's roots, taking inspiration from the first game and criticism from "Resident Evil 6".
6. Days Gone
What was thought to be a sequel to the survival-thriller "The Last of Us", was revealed to be a game similar yet different in many ways. A lot has been kept quiet about this open-world action-adventure game, but the trailer released at E3 was exhilarating regardless.
7. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
"Call of Duty" is back again. The series has taken players through a futuristic war, stealthy black ops missions and a zombie survival. This time, they take the war to the cosmos.
8. Detroit Become Human
Quantic Dream, the same developer who brought us the famous "Heavy Rain" is now dishing out a new neo-noir thriller game in which every decision matters and the outcome depends on each choice made.
9. The Last Guardian
Announced in 2009, "The Last Guardian" was finally given a release date at E3.
10. Horizon Zero Dawn
This new action role-playing game takes a new twist on post-apocalyptic future. Following our main character, Aloy, gamers will be pit against the new mechanical creatures of after the apocalypse. A dangerous, but fun, balance of man and machine.
11. Death Stranding
Coming from the creator of "Metal Gear Solid 5", Hideo Kojima, this game is expected to create a new genre. Also, Norman Reedus aka Daryl Dixon from "The Walking Dead" is the main protagonist of the the game. Not much is known and the trailer doesn't give much insight, but Norman Reedus is in it, so it should be good.
12. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The Legend of Zelda is back, with a stunning new trailer. The game play is said to mildly mimic "God of War" while the art style favors it's predecessors: "Wind Waker" and "Phantom Hourglass."
13. We Happy Few
This upcoming independent psychological thriller survival video game features a main character living a retro-futuristic themed world, where everybody is controlled by a drug which keeps everyone ignorant and "happy." This creepy game will be exclusive for Xbox One.
14. God of War 5
Sony showed of it's new installation in the God of War series at E3. Not only is Kratos dealing with the Norse Gods this round, it seems he might have fatherly duties to attend to.
15. South Park: Fractured But Whole
South Park is back in the video game world after it's success with "The Stick of Truth." The gang is taking aim at both the Marvel and DC cinematic universes, attempting to make a superhero franchise for the Coon and Friends.
16. Spider-Man
Sony released a trailer for another console exclusive, featuring everyone's neighborhood-friendly Spider-Man. Showing off a new costume and possible open world play in the city of New York.
