It's every freshman's worst nightmare: the dreaded freshman 15. For a variety of reasons, we freshman tend to gain a little more weight than what we're used to. One day you wake up, look in the mirror, and realize you have love handles. Your pants no longer zip up. You're sporting a double chin. Don't worry, it happens to the best of us. There's good news, though. It is possible to shed those 15 pounds. So before you give up hope, take a look at these tips.
1. Alcohol is your worst enemy
After one too many drinks the calories add up fast. Remember that.
2. Water is your best friend
Unlike alcohol, drinking lots and lots of water will do wonders for your body!
3. Cardio, cardio, and more cardio!
Cardio is what is going to help you shed fat quickly. Try to incorporate some type of cardio into your day a few times a week.
4. Exercise can be fun
If you hate running, it's okay. There are other fun ways to get in a good cardio workout!
5. Workout with a friend
Sometimes all you need is a good friend to motivate you.
6. Music is key
A good song can always get you up and moving.
7. Protein + Veggies = Results
Eating a balanced diet that includes lots of vegetables and protein will fuel your body.
8. Less isn't always more
Eating less won't give your body the energy it needs. Eating larger portions of healthy food like vegetables is a better way to go.
9. Reduce stress
If you're stressed, you won't be able to lose weight. Try to eliminate as much stress as possible from your life.
10. Get plenty of sleep
Your body needs sleep to function properly, so try to sleep for seven to nine hours.
11. Cheat a little
Reward yourself for all of your hard work. If you don't cheat every once in a while, you'll go crazy.
12. Stay positive
Don't get discouraged. Believe in yourself. You can do this!
13. Say good-bye to junk food
Eating junk food every day will only slow down your progress. Eat everything in moderation!
14. Make it a habit
It gets easier! After a few weeks, all of the positive changes you make each day will become a habit.
15. Love yourself
Most importantly, remember to love every aspect of yourself no matter what anyone says. freshman 15 or no freshman 15, you are beautiful.
