15 Times Your Mom Is The Only One Who Can Help

Mommy and me, always.

15 Times Your Mom Is The Only One Who Can Help
Nicole Cannizzaro

If you’re lucky, your mom is much more than a mother to you. She’ll be your role model, your psychiatrist, your dance partner, your shoulder to lean on, your best friend, your everything, you know? She’s your right hand, your go-to, and she’ll be the only one who can give you the help you really need in many situations, some being the following…

1. When you need a judgment free zone

You know you and your mom have an unconditional relationship, she won’t judge your mistakes like your friends, or give you brutal honesty about how stupid you’re being like your sister. She’ll sugar coat your faults and she won’t judge them because she knows how many people will, her little angel doesn’t deserve that.

2. When you need wise advice

She’s been through teenage angst, a generation unknown to you, childbirth and back; can you imagine anyone wiser than a mother? She knows more about you than anyone else, and more about what can help you than anyone else too. Whether it’s what dress looks best, or if you’re ready to take the next step in your life, she’s got the answers.

3. When you need someone to lie to you

Although your mom would never lie to you, if you ask her to she sure will. She’ll do just about anything to make you happy and if that means she has to say yes when you say “I know I might regret this but please just tell me this is okay and that I’ll figure it all out…” she just might do it if your happiness is at stake.

4. When you need a gut feeling

Your mom knew about every best friend break up that you would have in your teenage years before you did. Believe in her gut feelings because she’s got better intuition than you clearly, and she’s never steered you wrong before.

5. When you need approval/support

She’s your number one fan and she’ll be the first one you look to for approval. No matter what it is you’re doing, she’s proud. And no matter what it is you need approval on, hers will matter most.

6. When you need to cry

There is no better shoulder to cry on than your mom’s. She was there for your first cry and she never strayed through all of your others. She knows exactly how to comfort you, and she will give you the security you need to finally let it all out with her hug after you’ve been trying to keep it together for everyone else.

7. When you need to get away

What’s better than a girl’s trip with your mom? She’ll take you shopping, out to eat, somewhere pretty, shopping, to get mani pedi’s, shopping, and did I say shopping?

8. When you need to eat

Momma’s cooking is untouchable, whether it’s just a healthy meal that seems impossible to make taste good when you try it on your own. Or her world famous pineapple upside down cake, if you ask for it, she will make it.

9. When you need to remember something

She woke you up for school every day, made all of your doctor's appointments for the past some-odd years, and reminded you to eat your veggies, brush your teeth, and never let boys be mean to you. So what do you think she’ll do now…oh yeah still most of those things.

10. When you need to be a kid again

If you need a safe haven or a buddy to be childish with, she’ll let you strip yourself of all responsibilities and dignity, lounge in her house ice cream and drinking wine, dancing on the couches, and making complete fools of yourself. She’ll also let you feel like a kid again by catering to you, even when you don’t deserve it.

11. When you need to reminisce

She knows all of the details of your past, the good, the bad and the ugly from birth to present day. Sometimes you just need to reminisce on the diaper days, or even a year ago. Talking about it all can be nostalgic and always done best with old photo albums, a bottle of wine, and your mom.

12. When you need a get out of jail free card

She will save you, more than once. Whether it be from yourself, from bad decisions, or from the public safety officers escorting you out of a restricted area. She’s your one phone call, and she might just keep the secret from your dad.

13. When you need complete discretion

Whether you need to ask her something embarrassing, or you have a secret you have to keep that is bursting at the seams, she’s your personal shrink and your safety vault. No questions are too weird for your mom, and who is she going to tell your secrets to anyway?

14. When you need to be reminded of the good

Even if she is having the worst day, she’ll try to make yours better. She will always remind you to count your many blessings, find the silver lining, and never stop believing in yourself.

15. When you need your mom

Sometimes you simply need your mom and no one else. She gets you on a level no one else understands and she knows exactly what you need.

Don’t take her for granted, not everyone’s lucky enough to be able to go to their mom the millions of times a day that they need her, and some people's mom's don't even care to help.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
