We have been blessed with warm weather all of 2015 in the United States. I am currently visiting in Sweden and it is freezing outside. This reminded me of how awesome winter is the first couple of days and how you hate the snow after two days of experiencing it. The coldness will come to NYC, and I personally cannot wait (I guess I will regret this statement in one month). Here are 15 things that happens when it gets really cold outside:
1. Streets are emptier than ever. Except for some overambitious "working outers" and children.
Cannot decide if it is a good sign or not when the streets are empty in NYC...
2. Your nose is not functioning properly. Sometimes the nostrils even stick together.
You better start breathing through your nose or not at all!
3. Your hair, eyebrows, and eyelashes are starting to slowly develop into ice and become white.
This is not a good look.
4. The trip to the grocery store is too far. Even one minute away is one minute too long outside.
Starvation is a better option than going outside.
5. Everything stops working: trains, buses, iPhones.
This is not appropriate city weather.
6. The risk of slipping and breaking your hip, toe, foot, and arm is very high.
Tip: Practice to make the slipping look like it was on purpose.
7. The colder it gets, the uglier the outfit gets.
Bring out grandma's old jackets that are all of a sudden very useful.
8. It is dark when you go to work and dark when you go home.
The essence of eating a lot of vitamin D is starting to show.
9. Not to mention the weight you put on.
It is alright. No one can see it underneath all of those layers and bulky sweaters anyway.
10. First day of snow:
11. 14th day of snow:
Snow, snow go away...
12. You hope that there will be a snowstorm or blizzard so that you do not have to go to work or school.
Yes! Snow Day!
