11 Signs You're Really Not Ready For The Cold

The cold is meant for hibernation.

11 Signs You're Really Not Ready For The Cold

1. The amount of layers it takes to keep you warm, and then you get to class and you’re sweating and have to spend a few minutes unwrapping yourself.

I mean really, what a pain. You have to layer up to go outside with extra socks, scarves, hats, and gloves and once you get to class you have to rip it all off because you’re sweating your ass off.

2. Because I already run late to work as is, now I have to add in time to defrost my window.

I get up really early to be at work by 6:15 almost every morning. I have the time I have to leave down pat. Now, I have to add an even smaller window of when I can leave and make it on time because who knows how long my windows will take to defrost in my 2005 PT?

3. It’s always dark and depressing.

Ugh, the dark makes me so incredibly tired even if I was previously wide awake. It’s so hard to be completely awake when it’s pitch dark and freezing outside, let alone happy at all.4. Although snow can get you off of class, it also ruins plans.

I think snow is the worst. Yes, the occasional time it gets us out of class is absolutely awesome, but it also ruins my weekend plans, trips, and long to-do lists.

5. There is 100% chance the power will go out at least once.

In high school, the power was out for days at my house. Days. Thankfully we had a nice wood stove, but if we didn’t, we literally would have frozen into ice cubes and I just can’t handle that struggle.

6. There is also a 100% chance I will slip on ice.

That black ice is especially tricky, OK.

7. The lectures from mom.

I’m sure everyone has to deal with this. My mom is constantly on my butt about driving safe, not going out in the snow, and dressing appropriately for the weather.

8. The realization that snowmen and snow angels really aren’t worth all the commitment and effort.

Maybe I am just a party-pooper, but this is just not worth it. Falling into the snow backward and getting your entire outfit soaking wet so you literally freeze, OOOK. Also, snowmen take so much effort and to be honest, I think I always gave up halfway through when he wasn’t round enough.

9.Winter = Christmas music.

Enough said.

10. The pictures of girls in the snow wearing bikinis.

Why is this a thing?

11. It’s harder to get out of bed.

Ugh. I really do have the hardest time getting up when it’s raining but when it's cold...ten times worse. It’s absolutely horrendous.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
