I personally love going to Disneyland; it provides an escape from my hectic and stressful life. There’s no better feeling than feeling like a kid again, transporting yourself into a different world of happiness and Mickey-shaped cookies. My friends and I go to Disneyland more often than we should (thank goodness for annual passes). I was reading an article on Empire Online the other day, and I came across a huge list of facts about Disney. Disney has always had a positive influence on my life, so why not share some really interesting/weird facts about the world of Disney?
1. First of all, Walt Disney’s original name was "d’Isigny" (it’s French) So Disneyland could’ve been "d’Isignyland." Cool, huh?
2. The girl who voiced Lilo from "Lilo and Stitch" is also the same Samara Morgan in "The Ring." I can never watch "Lilo and Stitch" again.
3. Disney animators always hide classic Disney characters throughout Disney movies. You can spot Mickey and Donald Duck in "The Little Mermaid."
4. There is an elaborate tunnel system under Disney World in Florida for characters to change costumes and then appear in their appropriate sections of the parks
5. In Disneyland, Main Street is supposed to depict the quintessential America in 1910 while Tomorrowland shows America in 1986. These years were chosen because they were the years of Halley’s Comet
6. Tiger roars were used in the Lion King because lion roars weren’t loud enough
7. Anyone getting married soon? If so, you can send your wedding invites to Mickey and Minnie; they’ll send you an autographed photo and a “Just Married” badge
8. Apparently Disney gets a lot of requests from families to scatter their loved one’s ashes throughout the Haunted Mansion ride. They get several requests every year.
9. Christian Bale was in "Pocahontas." He played the role of “Thomas.”
10. The Disney World resort is about the same size as San Francisco (woah!)
11. Walt Disney’s final (written) words were “Kurt Russell.” No one knows why.
12. Despite popular belief, Walt Disney is not cryogenically frozen.
13. When the Pirates of the Caribbean ride first opened in Disneyland in 1967, ride designers used real skeletons (previously used for research) from the UCLA Medical Center
14. The white dress that Amy Adams had to wear in "Enchanted" weighs 45 lbs.
15. Disney World is second to the US Military in purchasing explosives in the U.S.
