15 Things To Help Stay Positive

Life is hard, we all know that. Some days are harder than others, but we can't live our entire lives in the highs because we're bound to have lows. Amongst the lows it's extremely important to keep a positive mindset and to always look on the bright side. I recently started replacing "have to" with "get to." For example "I have to go to work tomorrow." Instead, "I get to go to work tomorrow." Be grateful you have a job that pays the bills and puts food on the table, be grateful for the opportunity to prosper. "I get to go to the grocery store." You have money to feed yourself, because believe it or not a majority of the human race doesn't get that opportunity. Two simple words that can change the entire meaning of something. Positivity is powerful. So here are 15 simple things to think about when you feel you've hit rock bottom.

1. Smiling takes 26 muscles, frowning takes 62. Don’t waste your time or energy on negativity.

2. You're stronger than you think! Put your mind to it, you never know you might be surprised at what you can accomplish.

3. Positivity radiates, spread the light. Always remember that smiling is contagious.

4. Life isn't always about the highs. The lows make you who you are. They make you stronger and wiser. Always hope for the light at the end of the tunnel, it only goes up from here.

5. There's always something to be grateful for: your health, happiness, family, friends, etc. Always remember those things and don't take them for granted.

6. Influence is a powerful thing and so is negativity. If you find yourself in a negative situation the best thing to do is remove yourself from it. This goes for negative people as well. Negativity spreads like wildfire, but so does positivity -- choose wisely.

7. Situations change and nothing is permanent, ultimately you are in control.

8. Stress is bad. Letting frustration and anger take over your mind isn't healthy. We all encounter stress, but the less of it the better. Always remember anything can be solved with a nap or a margarita. Sometimes you just need one or two, or both.

9. You are not alone. Look to your support systems: your friends and family. These people are in your life for a reason and should always be there during difficult times to raise you up and assure you of your worth.

10. You're beautiful. Whether you believe it or not so many people out there admire you. You never know what qualities you posses that someone else wishes they had.

11. We all have a purpose. We may spend our whole lives trying to figure out what they are, but that's what's so beautiful about life. It's all about the journey.

12. You are unique! That's what's so great about human beings. We are all so diverse and so different. Our minds, bodies and souls, no two completely the same. That's what makes us beautiful after all.

13. Take the time to do something good for yourself. When you find yourself caught in the dumps, take some time to yourself even if it's 20 minutes! Take a bath, go for a run or watch the sunset. Put your mind at ease and give it a break. We all need that at times.

14. The more you focus on the good stuff, the more good stuff you find. Even if everything seems to be going wrong, there is something that's going right. Figure out what it is and go from there. Good things will come.

15. Nobody needs a reason to be happy, we all deserve it! We have but one life, live it with a smile on your face.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
