There is something so special about finding someone that you know will be your best friend forever. If you have found that person, consider yourself very lucky. A good friend is like a treasure; it is very rare and something extremely special. Usually, that person comes to you when you least expect it. It is like they come at the perfect time when you just need a friend. People can easily have many friends, but a best friend is different. A best friend is there for the long run, and it doesn’t matter if you have known them for your whole life or only a couple years. There are certain signs that you can tell when that best friend is your person.
1. You know each other’s deepest secrets.
You literally know every single thing about this person. You know their moments that they are proud of, you know their embarrassing moments, you know what scares them, you know what makes them happy and everything in between.
2. Distance doesn’t matter.
You might be at different schools, but it doesn’t matter. Your friendship knows no distance. You still talk everyday so you don’t miss out on any detail. The distance just makes the moments you are together more special.
3. When you are in public, you can read each other’s minds.
If the situation is awkward, you see a cute boy, or you want to say something about the people you are around you can easily communicate. All it takes is one look and you know exactly what the other person is thinking. It’s basically best friend telepathy.
4. They are the first person you call when something good or bad happens.
You want them to be the first to celebrate good news, and the person you can cry to when things just aren’t going your way. It doesn’t matter what time it is, they will be the first person to know what is going on.
5. They support you no matter what.
Life is full of a variety of decisions we have to make. Sometimes we have to make difficult decisions, but that person who is your very best friend will always be there to support you. It doesn’t matter if you made the right or wrong decision because they will be there to support you no matter what. You are each others biggest fans.
6. You plan your futures together.
Are they really your person if you don’t make a plan to live together and adopt cute puppies before real adulthood actually starts? You have everything planed out from the type of dog you want to all the memories you will make together.
7. They have your proposal planned out.
They are your person and they know you better than anyone else, so obviously they are going to be the person that plans out your marriage proposal. After they decide what boy is worthy of your attention, of course.
8. They can brighten your darkest days.
We all have bad days, and usually there aren’t many people that can easily make them better. Your best friend is one of the few people that can make you smile even when it seems like the whole world is against you.
9. People probably think you are dating from how much you post about each other.
I know that all I post about is my best friend, but I promise we aren’t dating. She’s basically just the only person I ever take pictures with, and when we are away from each other we usually are tagging each other in things that will make us smile. So think what you want, but she’s just my person.
10. You would do anything for them.
It’s easy to say that you will do anything for anyone, but with your best friend you mean it with all your heart. It doesn’t matter what time it is or where you are, you will drop everything if they need you.
11. Nobody really gets you but them.
You just get each other. You understand every thing that they say and you never think less of them when they do something others wouldn’t approve of. You never feel like anyone really understands you except for them.
12. They laugh at your jokes.
You could be the funniest person ever…or not and they still laugh. You laugh together till your stomach hurts and there are tears in your eyes.
13. You always stand up for them.
You will be the first one ready to beat up whoever hurts your best friend’s feelings. You have their back in every situation.
14. You don’t judge each other.
You might lovingly laugh at them when they watch Netflix for ten hours straight, but you are right there watching it with them. You will always be honest with each other, but you do it with love. Nothing you do could ever make them love you less.

Your person means more to you than yourself. You love them and only want the very best for them. They mean the world to you, and you feel blessed to have someone like them in your life.
