Those who have played competitive soccer know that it is not just an extracurricular activity, it is a lifestyle. No one quite understands what it is like to endure the endless practices, constant hunger, and never-ending traveling like the dedicated players on competitive teams.

1. Turf beads. Turf beads everywhere.

You even find those little rubber chips in your underwear. And I know during half time that you pile them up in your hands or on your legs, don't deny it.

2. You have weird tan lines the entire year.

The only places that are actually tan are our knees and forearms.

3. The most nervous you have ever been was during a PK shootout.

May the odds be ever in your favor.

4. The most frustrated you have ever been was when your team hit the cross bar 1,000 times, but never scored.

The "Soccer Gods" just don't want you to win today, sorry.

5, The most anxious you have ever been was at practice after a bad game and your coach says, "Get on the line."

You might as well prepare to condition the whole practice.

6. You dread the stairs after conditioning.

Equivalent to climbing Mt. Everest.

7. Your least favorite person is the referee.

"I SWEAR I didn't push her! I had my hands up!"

8. Then when you become a referee and understand their pain...

"Ma'am, they are six years old. I think you need to calm down."

9. You practice the art of "flopping" in your free time.

It really is a strategic art form.

10. You carb load 24/7.

"I'll burn it off later."

11. During the season, you don't have time to do anything else.

"I can't, I have practice."

12. People give you strange looks because you have turf burn and bruises on 50 percent of your body.

It's even worse if you are a goalkeeper.

13. You have taken at least one of these pictures in your life:

And you probably went to prom with your teammates, too.

14. You have also attempted to take at least one artsy photo with your team.

From experience: it doesn't always look this cool.

15. You have a second family: your team.

There is no one quite like them. There is no one you'd rather endure conditioning with or eat large amounts of food with. Whether you guys win or lose, you are a team, and there's no one you'd rather play with.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
