Out of all my time spent surfing through various web pages and blogs, there have been 15 particular quotes I've stumbled upon that continue to make a difference in my daily outlook on life. Whether you are in search of words to uplift a broken spirit, encourage you, or add a positive vibe to your day...these quotes will be sure to do just that.
1. Let your smile change the world, but don't let the world change your smile.
-Unknown.
It's true when people say that a gesture as small as a smile can brighten someone's day. However, it can do so much more. A positive, happy outlook on any situation can make all the difference. The world feeds off of positive energy. Never let a negative outlook drag you down, and keep up the happy vibes!
2. "If plan "A" didn't work out. The alphabet has 25 more letters. Stay cool!"
-unknown
As college students, were pretty accustomed to plan A never working out. It's just how life goes. But those who haven't adopted the "just roll with it" lifestyle (A.K.A. freshman) tend to get their knickers in a wad at the flip of a hat. Everything will work itself out, I promise. Just take a step back, breathe, and figure out a new plan.
3.If you dream it, you can do it.
-Walt Disney
Everyone has aspirations leading to big, big things. It's normal! Just because your dream seems a little far fetched or even impossible, it's important that you never give up. Big dreams are what make this world successful. Don't let your spark die out. Make things happen!
4.Remember no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
-Oprah Winfrey
This is very important to the millennial generation. Our age group faces continuous judgment from our elders and it can have serious negative impacts on a younger adult's self-esteem. It's crucial to recognize our characteristics that have positive attributes to society and give ourselves the pat on the back that we deserve! You are as good as you give yourself credit for. Self-worth is never based on another's opinion. Just brush your shoulder off and keep moving forward.
5. Action is the foundational key to all success.
-Pablo Picasso
If you're chasing after a dream, YOU have to be the one to chase. Nothing will ever be achieved by sitting around binge-watching "Orange Is The New Black". Sorry.
6. The soul that seeks beauty may sometimes walk alone.
- Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
The journey made by a curious mind to seek out what lies beneath the surface is a journey often made alone. Don't be afraid to make this journey just because others are too afraid of what might be revealed.
7. Her messy hair, a visible attribute to her stubborn spirit. As she shakes it free, she smiles knowing wild is her favorite color.
-J. Iron Word
This quote is one that all women should seriously appreciate and take to heart. As women, we are often pushed to be a picture perfect model of what society claims as beautiful. With straightened hair and a face painted over with layers of concealer...This is what we do to be considered pretty. But nothing is more beautiful than the woman who isn't afraid to let her hair loose and be proud of what makes her different.
8. It's time to say goodbye, but I think goodbyes are sad and I'd much rather say hello. Hello to a new adventure.
-Ernie Harwell
Struggling with moving on? I always come back to this particular quote when I know it's time to let go, but just can't seem to walk away. However when life finds its way into a difficult situation, it's important to look at the adventures ahead. New possibilities will open up. You can get through anything with the right mindset.
9. I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order
-John Burroughs
Sometimes nature is the best therapy and all you need is a long walk in the woods to clear your mind and relieve stress.
10. Find happiness in the simplest of things.
-Unknown
You gotta enjoy the little things. We as people are so consumer driven, that we often take simple gestures for granted. Happiness is not, and never will be found in materialistic things. However, the hugs from grandma? The good-morning kiss from your significant other? Find bliss in the little parts of everyday life. That is where true happiness resides.
11. Embrace the glorious mess that you are.
-Elizabeth Gilbert
Were all a little crazy. Embrace it! Who cares if you're wearing pajamas at work because you were running late. Who cares if you stayed up all night obsessively watching "Grey's Anatomy". We all have our off days. It happens!
12. An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.
-Unknown
This is very important to keep in mind. Every person has been placed in a situation where they have been treated with less than honest intentions. This is where you have to step up and be the bigger person. You can't always get the last word in, or try to "get back" at the individual who did you wrong. Just turn the other cheek, and learn to forgive and forget. This will help you find inner peace and happiness. Holding anger against anyone or anything will only do harm to yourself in the long run.
13. Worry is worshiping the problem.
-Unknown
Stop stressing out over something that is beyond your control. Everything will work out like it's supposed to. Some things are bigger than yourself, and you just have to sit back and enjoy the ride.
14. I'm on the hunt for whom I've not yet become.
-Unknown
It's crucial to realize that we as people will always be growing. In our state of mind and body. We will never reach our "full potential" because it doesn't exist. Always strive to better yourself and discover yourself, but don't think that you will be the same forever.
15. She always had that about her. That look of otherness, of eyes that see things much too far, and of thoughts that wander off the edge of the world.
- Joanne Harris
Aspire for greatness. Don't let the confines of this world trap you in a little box. Allow yourself to dream, to wonder. Curiosity is power, and you can do anything you set your mind to.
