Most people think it’s crazy that I am 21 years old yet just applied for my passport less than a week ago. “You’ve never been out of the country?” is the response I typically get. When I tell people I’ve only been in the U.S. and gone to Mexico on a cruise, they like to lecture me on how amazing Europe is, how the Caribbean beaches are where it’s at and that they’re going to Thailand next summer. I won’t lie, I can’t wait to travel abroad and see the world. I definitely have "wanderlust" and once I am out of college and have a moment or two before I start working, I will be jet-setting out of this country. However, even with my lack of international experience, I think I have made the most of my time seeing some of the great places the world has to offer. Often times, America doesn't get enough credit for how amazingly beautiful it is. I’ve taken numerous road trips, been on plenty of flights, and through these endeavors, I have found some amazing spots in this vast country in my travels through about 27 states. Many of us Americans fail to remember that there is beauty in our homeland. We forget to explore the great land that we are blessed to call our "Home." Here is my list of the top places, in no particular order, that I have had the pleasure of experiencing in this great country. Don't miss out on these!!
1. Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia, PA
When you want panoramic views of the city, a neat place to take pictures, a spot to rest your feet in the fountain, and the chance to discover some history, this is your place. I could spend hours here just observing the views and people watching.
2. The Bluebird, Denver, CO
Many concert venues are too big, too crowded and have lost their spark. The Bluebird, however, is small, intimate, and maintains a historical feel. There are some great acts that come in and out of this place and you’re never too far from the stage no matter where you stand.
3. Griffith Park, Los Angeles, CA

This park is huge with plenty of space for exercising, picnicking, gathering with friends, etc. If you make the drive to the top, you will see views of Los Angeles that go as far as the eye can see. There are hiking trails nearby and many movies have been filmed at this location.
4. Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs, CO
I have never witnessed something so breathtakingly beautiful. The way the large reddish rocks tower over you will put you in awe of the world’s natural creations.
5. Montauk Lighthouse, Montauk, NY

This lighthouse sits on the end of Long Island so you basically feel like you’re at the end of the world. The beaches are rocky, but are beautiful nonetheless and the sunsets here give Hawaii a run for her money.
6. Montage, Laguna Beach, CA

Staying at this hotel could very well be out of your price range, but luckily you can visit for the day. The hotel sits on a cliff and overlooks some of the brightest blue water in So. Cal. Go down the steps to the beach and you will see waves crashing against the rocks and the scenic views of the OC Coast and all of the houses on top of the hills seem to wrap around the beach.
7. Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, CO

I like to call this place a natural playground. Who needs park swings and slides when you can hike, sled, ski, and observe animals such as elk? This place is huge and the beauty is endless. You will spend the whole day here and still not want to leave.
8. The Sandhill on PCH, Malibu, CA
This place offers both a view and a workout. You will definitely start panting as you hike up the steep incline and your calves will burn as you slide on the sand, but when you get to the top of the Sandhill, you won’t regret it. After all, an amazing view of the California Coast never disappoints. Also, the sunsets here are on point.
9. Honl’s Beach Park, Kona, HI
This is a small little beach in Kona. The sand is soft, the boogie-boarders come and go all afternoon and the sunsets here are the best I have ever seen. Palm trees line the beach and the orange colors swallow the ocean as the sun goes down.
10. Catalina Island, Avalon, CA
Take a boat ride out of Long Beach and you will end up at this quaint island about 45 minutes later. You can rent either a tandem bike or a golf cart and can adventure around this place for a day or for a weekend. There are plenty of things so do such as mini golfing and snorkeling. There are also tons of cute shops and restaurants, as well.
The white sand and the light blue water will put you in the most peaceful state of mind. You can relax on the edge of the beach under the trees of get your fill of the sun as you splash in the waves.
12. The Great Lawn in Central Park, NYC, NY

The grass is green, the skyline is huge and the vibes are great. There's no better place in NYC to tan, throw the football, and hang with friends.
13. Wolffer Estate Vineyard, Sagaponack, NY
During the summertime, this vineyard is the place to go on Friday nights. You can listen to live music, lay out on blankets, eat cheese, and drink wine (if you're of age). As the sun sets, you especially appreciate the beauty the vineyard has to offer and fall in love with the Hamptons.
14. Ocean Drive, South Beach, FL
This street is colorful, energetic, and upbeat. From delicious restaurants and live music, to the Clevelander, you will get your fill of fun on this street in the great South Beach.
15. Lombard Street, San Francisco, CA
I am going to guess that you have never seen a street like this before. It's fun to watch people cautiously drive through this windy road going 5 MPH. It'll have you wondering how people even live on this street to begin with... But the ocean and city views probably have something to do with that. This is a great spot to scope out the city and to take a fun walk down the steps with friends if you're not traveling by car.
