I have mentioned my desire to keep the Obama’s in the office for one more term in an earlier post, and I am still sticking to that belief. I have thoroughly enjoyed their time as President and First Lady; both are great leaders, influential, and charismatic. Though I have only lived long enough to truly know one other president, I am sure he is one of the best America has had in some time. Honestly, I believe Barack Obama falls under the category of one of the coolest Presidents in American history. Yes I said it. If you have been following Obama since he was elected, they too may say the same. However, if you have failed to tune in to all the fun the leader of the free has been having, and the good things he has accomplished this year, then I will attempt to help you catch up.
In the past year Obama has…
- Ran wild with Bear Grylls in the remote areas of Alaska, to discuss climate change.
- ‘Slow jammed’ the news on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (if you haven’t seen it, do it now).
- Visited several bookstores and restaurants, and paid with his own money.
- Taken a selfie with the stars of Youtube.
- Sang Amazing Grace with the choir of Emanuel A.M.E. to honor the victims of a shooting that occurred at the church.
- Declared all love to be equal love.
- Roasted Donald Trump during the White House Correspondents’ dinner.
- Served Thanksgiving dinner to homeless veterans with the entire first family (minus Sunny and Bo).
- Lowered gas prices. Who doesn’t think that is awesome!?!
- Released his official birth certificate (you must Google this).
- Named a Kendrick Lamar song as one of his favorites this year.
- Read mean tweets on Jimmy Kimmel.
- Danced on a segment of a Dancing WithThe Stars commercial.
- Starred in a Buzzfeed video and used a selfie stick to tape.
- Ended his last press conference of the year with “Ok everybody, I gotta get to Star Wars.” See, you weren’t the only one.
Of course President Barack Obama has had a lot more cool moments this year and during his entire presidency, but who has time to list them all? Bottom line, I am definitely going to miss his charismatic and easy going personality. Though many may disagree, I believe it will be a while before we get another president as awesome as Obama.
