15 Things To Know About Meredith
Meredith Scroggin

Hello y'all! I am so excited to be an Odyssey Ambassador. After working this summer as an editorial intern for Odyssey, it's so exciting to be in the Odyssey world as an ambassador and spread the word of what an amazing platform and company it is.

Wondering some about me?

1. I go to the University of Richmond and proudly rep the Spiders!

Yup, our mascot is the Spiders, and though it may not be the scariest mascot, Richmond is definitely the most amazing campus in the world. I couldn't have chosen a better college or place to live for four years!

2. I hail from Lexington, Kentucky. Go Cats!

I grew up in Lexington, Kentucky, and have lived there all of my life. I absolutely love the state of Kentucky!

3. I'm a little bit a lot of a monogram addict.

There's a reason so many people call me Monogram Meredith... but it really started with my small business of selling monogrammed products (that sweatshirt above was one I made myself!) and through my blog.

4. I believe smiles make all the difference.

Sure, it sounds cheesy, but I was always raised under the impression that you decide your attitude. You decide whether to wake up with a smile on your face and how to feel about everything that happens. And spreading that happiness to others is what keeps us all going great.

5. I'm a vegetarian!

I've been a vegetarian for over five and a half years and I love it. I decided to stop eating meat for health reasons, but then the more I read about it, I didn't really like the feeling of putting toxins from processed meat in my body.

6. I lived in New York City this summer.

I might be from Kentucky and go to school in Virginia, but I fell in love with New York City this summer. There is something so exciting and thrilling about living in the city that never sleeps and knowing that there is a world of opportunities all around you.

7. I'm an avid blogger.

I started a silly ol' blog four years ago, and somehow, it gained traction. It's taught me so much about the world of digital marketing and media and has helped me so much with my writing skills and even Odyssey-related topics! It's under works now, but the link is here.

8. I've been with Odyssey for over a year now.

The University of Richmond's community launched last summer and I started out as the social media director and a content Creator. It's been a great year of learning about everything that Odyssey entails!

9. I am a huge fan of telling stories.

I tell some really bad stories and my friends will admit to that. But on top of that, there are a lot of stories that aren't told. In my head, it's better to tell these stories from different perspectives. It's the only way we'll ever learn about each other, so it's appropriate that I love Odyssey so much. We're all about telling stories.

10. I'm a member of both a sorority and a fraternity.

I closely identify with both my business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi, and my sorority, Tri Delta! Both have been such amazing experiences and I've made great friends through both!

11. I have a passion for coffee.

Like most college students, I love coffee. But I absolutely love trying different types of coffee and learning more about it!

12. I hope to go into brand management or integrated marketing communications for a publication.

I'm a huge marketing nerd. Well, I'm really just a huge nerd in general, but I really geek out about marketing and hope to implement it into something media or writing based in the future.

13. I have a big family and it's a large part of my identity.

I was so lucky to grow up with two loving parents and three younger brothers and sister. I love having a great family like this and it's so special to me!

14. I believe the world is your oyster.

Life is so full of amazing opportunities and the potential to make changes, but only if you're willing to take advantage of them. There is no limit for what can be done in our lives if we're willing to put in the work.

15. Social media is my best friend.

Follow along with me on social media!

Here's to more fun with being an Odyssey ambassador...

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
