Summer will be turning into fall before we know it or wish it to! That means school season is approaching and kids will be moving back into the dorms. Anyone who has lived in a dorm knows that while it's convenient and sometimes exciting, it isn't exactly luxury living. After a summer of being at home, I know that I will be missing things that I took for granted before I knew what dorm life was really like!

1. Not having to wear shoes everywhere you go

I mean, you can choose not wear shoes to the bathroom or to the dining hall, but I wouldn't suggest that!

2. Being able to leave your room without having five conversations with neighbors you will inevitably run into

Some of them are really cool and interesting people! Sometimes those are fun conversations to have and you might just meet some great friends! But not all of us are that lucky and there will probably be some pesky neighbors!

3. Taking an elevator countless times a day

Taking the elevator isn't difficult, but the waiting gets old really fast! The elevators definitely run slower when you're in a hurry, I'm sure of it!

4. It doesn't smell like a cafeteria all the time

One of the perks of living in a dorm is that the dining hall is preparing food all day long, so there is always plenty to eat! But at the same time, this also means that it smells like food everywhere in the building. It's hard to resist those french fries!

5. Getting to have your pets around

You can't be prepared for how much you'll miss your furry pals. There aren't many animals that live in the dorms at all, so seeing a dog or a cat at school makes any day a happier one!

6. Doing laundry is a lot more convenient at home

There's no awkward hauling of your clothes up and down the elevator when doing laundry at home!

7. Quiet time!

There are designated quiet times in most dorm buildings, but there are some people that just don't think that applies to them!

8. Playing your instrument or your favorite music loud

The walls are pretty thin in dorms, so blasting your favorite album or practicing your trumpet wouldn't be the most neighborly thing to do.

9. Having an oven

You can't bake fresh scones without an oven!

10. A bed bigger than a twin

Dorm beds can be really cozy but after a while, it's hard not to notice how small it really is...how do the tall students even sleep?

11. Not sharing a bathroom with a dozen other people

Depending on your living arrangements at home, this might be what you miss the most!

12. Ice!

Ice is definitely one of my creature comforts! The convenience of having an ice maker at home is something I do miss at school, and sometimes just not worth the trip all the way down to the dining hall.

13. Having storage

There's only so much storage in a dorm room. Make the most of what you have with drawers and stacking. Or, go with the method used in this gif!

14. Less responsibility

When college kids are home, it usually means it's summer! Nothing like time off from studying to relax!

15. Driving a car

Not having a car at school doesn't make getting around campus any more difficult, but if you're not into bus rides, it confines you to stay on campus. No cruising with the music loud and windows down after a long day.

Sometimes these luxuries of being at home are missed by college students, but there are positive aspects of dorm life during the college adventure. Being a college student comes with a lot of freedom and opportunities to learn and grow each day, and dorm life provides a social experience like no other!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
