We all promise ourselves that the upcoming summer will be better than the one before. However, we eventually run out of exciting things to do, especially if we're on a budget. This summer, you can be sure to keep your promise of making it the best one yet by having a foolproof plan of backup ideas. When summer starts to stretch on and you cannot find anything better to do to make it memorable, remember that there is always something else exciting that you have not done yet.
1. Pack A Picnic.
Make your destination on a warm afternoon a nearby park. Pack a picnic lunch with all of your favorite snacks, and do not forget to bring an old blanket along too. Take refuge under a tree that provides shade, and enjoy your homemade packed lunch.
2. Go On A Hike.
Find the nearest place with sufficient hills and go on a nature hike. Not only is hiking a great workout, but you will have an added bonus if you can find a place that also provides a view at the top of your climb.
3. Rent A Bicycle Or Take A Bike Ride.
This is a great activity if you are looking to have fun but also exercise. You can either use a bike that you may already have, or find a place that rents them for cheap.
4. Look For Free Concerts.
Many cities have free outdoor concerts during the summer months. Keep yourself in the loop with what goes on in your hometown or city.
5. Work On Your Tan.
Make it your goal to achieve the best tan you have ever had (while wearing sunscreen of course). Spend some time outside reading or listening to music while tanning.
6. Plan A Road Trip With Friends.
This can be as inexpensive as you would like to make it depending on how far you go, and for how many days. Small road trips with friends to places you have never been can be very cheap and fun.
7. Change Around Your Least Favorite Room.
Pick a day when you have a lot of free time and reorganize one room of your home, especially the room that you never go into. Rearranging the furniture will make the room appear to be newer and make you want to spend more time in it.
8. Create Your Own Recipe.
Gather up all of the random leftover food items that you have, and make a brand new recipe out of them. You might just create a new favorite.
9. Have A Movie Marathon.
Pick your favorite movie series and have an entire night or day of binge-watching. Be sure to have popcorn and other salty or sweet snacks at hand.
10. Have A Bonfire.
Bonfires are virtually cheap, besides the ingredients for s'mores. Round up all of your friends for a fun filled night of stories around the fire.
11. Carve A Watermelon.
Choose a watermelon carving pattern from Pinterest and find your inner Michelangelo to create a beautiful watermelon sculpture. After taking pictures of all your hard work, you can enjoy the leftover pieces as a treat.
12. Go Camping.
If you already own a tent, this summer is the perfect time to put it to good use. You can camp in your backyard for free, or find a nearby place that you have always wanted to camp at.
13. Make Homemade Smoothies.
Shop for your favorite fruits and berries and make homemade smoothies. Enjoy them with some friends!
14. Take Up Yoga.
It is never too late to start a new hobby, and yoga is not only good for the body, but also the mind and soul. Yoga can help improve your well-being, and you can gain some flexibility.
15. Visit A Museum.
Look up cheap museums to visit in your local area. This is the perfect activity to do on a rainy day, and you just might learn something new.
Make this summer one of the best ones yet for you and your friends by exploring new places in your area. No matter rain or shine, there are always new and exciting things to do. Whether you are trying to have fun on a budget or not, remember to explore new places, and get outside of your comfort zone.
