If your life is anything like mine you need a planner. However when you have a million things to do... your phone turns into your planner. Here are some apps to help the college student on the go and overall make life a little easier.
1. Study Blue
Study Blue helps you sync up with your classes at your specific university/college and see class materials/flashcards/practice quizzes. Users that have taken the class before can upload materials to help you study in the future. It is the lead crowdsourced learning platform and can give you an extra boost in your classes.
2. Refme
Let's all admit it... citations are hard. With your choice of formatting APA, MLA, etc. you can search websites, books, journal articles, master thesis, magazines, and much more to reference. It even helps you with in quote citations and if you physically have to barcode, you can can scan the barcode to quickly find your book.
3. The HW App
This app will easily organize your homework and upcoming events into an agenda and timetable. It helps to simplify your schedule and check your progress, as well as getting reminders as necessary. Everything is customizable and you can check things off once you complete them.
4. StudyShift
This helps you stay on track by putting you on a timer based on your study load and desired grades. It's basically like your personal trainer for studying and you get to see your studying habits improve each week.
5. RunKeeper
RunKeeper is a great running app to improve your fitness. It is one of the more accurate running apps that I have found in terms of tracking your pace, distance, steps, and calorie count. It adjusts to your pace to help with your fitness level and mood. There are also pretty good training apps if you are planning on signing up for a race. It is designed by professional runners and athletes to improve not only your running, but fitness and stamina.
6. AppDetox
If you get distracted easily this app is for you. It helps block off certain applications for a certain amount of time so you can get the things that you need to get done, done.
7. MyScript Calculator
This is a handwriting calculator app, so just write it out with your finger and the app will solve the equation for you. It is fast and pretty simple editing for you to get the results that you need. It can do the complex equations that you need... so more than the already programmed calculator on your IPhone. It also holds the history of past equations that you've done if you have to have a refresher or want to go back to redo an equation.
8. Duolingo
This is one of the best apps for learning a new language or continue a language. You can test out of levels that you already know and it is programmed to help you work on specific areas that you have difficulty in. Each activity/lesson includes reading, writing, and dictation. You can go back to old lessons and practice specific learning areas in a step by step program.
9. Marvin
Marvin is an ebook reader that goes beyond just reading a book. Including picking a background and font, you are also able to find out new things about the author and content you are reading. Marvin will sort your individual readings for you and keep chapters in a side window to keep everything organized for you.
10. Sound Hound
A music recognition app that helps you find the music being played around you or the song that has been stuck in your head.
11. Moovit
Moovit is a transit app that is especially helpful if you live in a big city. Since the transit system can be unpredictable it updates on the transit schedule (line schedules) or changes that might occur. It is super helpful if you are busy and depend of the transit system to get around.
12. ProShot
Proshot is really helpful if you want improve the quality of your photos. You are able to adjust the light and focus live time, as well as have access to more advanced feature. Overall if you are into photography or want better quality pictures this app is for you.
13. Mint
Mint helps you to sort your purchases into different categories of spending and see how much you spend each week. It is a money manager, reminds you of your bills, has a credit score, and helps you manage a budget. Overall it helps you become more financially aware and spend your money wisely. 14. TED
TED conferences helps you find various presentations and various views on specific ideas. Not only is it interesting, but it can help with finding a new topic on your research paper as well as giving new perspectives on the world around you.
15. Any.do
If you are a busy person, changes are that you need a to-do list on the go. Any.do helps sync to all your devices. It is also a calendar and if you upgrade acts as an assistant. Overall this is a life manager and helps you remember not only the task, but time, location, phone numbers, etc. It is also really easy to use and helps put tasks, lists, and events all in one place.
