Valentine's Day is a widely contested holiday. Singles hate it, couples it, but everyone participates in it. No matter who you are and how you feel about Valentine's Day every year you will either spend the day lamenting or celebrating. Of all the groups of people who hate Valentine's Day the most, it is certainly those in long distance relationships. There is nothing more frustrating than knowing you have some you would love to spend the day with, and can't because distance prevents it.
1. Well, at least I don’t have to shave.
As disappointing as it is that your significant other isn't there, not having to shave makes it almost worth it. Plus, it's winter, so that extra hair is great for warmth, that's almost cuddling. Right?
2. Why is Skype buffering so much.
Skype is temperamental as is, but on the one day, it counts the least it can do is pull through.
3. This isn't a real holiday anyway.
But you'll still celebrate it anyways.
4. That couple is so gross.
Normally, cute couples make you sentimental, but today they make you jealous.
5. I can’t believe he just held the door open for her. Chill with the PDA.
And any sign of affection makes you physically ill.
6. Why didn’t I send this package sooner.
The mail system sucks, and you know that. But you still didn't think ahead.
7. At least there’s a surplus of candy.
Just eat man. It'll make things okay!
8. Are any of my friends free?
Today friends in the same boat as you or your single friends are your godsends.
9. Is it pitiful if I make reservations for one?
No, if you want nice food get nice food. Don't let the couples scare you.
10. There’s no way I can successfully ignore this holiday.
With all the hearts and couples in love the day is impossible to ignore. Just bite the bullet and suck it up.
11. Maybe I can clock some extra hours at work.
Because if not love, then money. Am I right?
12. Netflix is bae.
You say this, but it isn't true. Not even a little bit. Nothing compares to the real bae.
13. Well, I'll see him soon so I guess it's okay.
Valentine's Day makes you think about the next time you'll see your sweetheart. And seeing them will be sweeter than any silly holiday.
14. I miss my person.
You can't help but miss your person today.
Long distance is hard, especially on Valentine's Day, but honestly feeling left out is completely worth it when you think of how wonderful your significant other is. You wouldn't be in a long distance relationship unless you really think your significant other is worth it, and if nothing else today is an excellent reminder of how worth it they are. Happy Valentine's Day!
