Ahh, Valentine's Day. The time of year the local Walmart becomes nothing but red and pink over-sized stuffed animals with countless amounts of flowers and a big fat reminder that you have nobody to spend it with.

It can be sad and overwhelming (especially if this is the case every year) but we really are living the good life! You may be scheduled to work, and that's great -- go make that money!! You may have class all day, and that's awesome -- be thankful for the opportunity! You may be spending time with your family or have a possible Valentine's date -- go you!! You may have a girls night or a Galentine's Day planned with your gal pals -- even better! You could also be just like me and have absolutely no plans and be 100 percent okay with it.

Yes, I am single once again this Valentine's Day. Am I ashamed? NO. And if you're in the same situation, you shouldn't be either. Here are some reasons why February 14th will be rockin' this year:

1. You don't have to stress about making plans

Your significant other wants to do this, but you want to do that. It can be stressful trying to make plans. Luckily, this year we live in a stress-free environment!

2. You can do whatever the heck you want

This may mean going on a hike, catching up on a novel, having a movie marathon or dressing up like Superman and eating cereal from the box. You do you!

3. No long waits at fancy restaurants

Are you kidding? Change into your PJs, call that food in and get it to-go and enjoy a nice meal in the comfort of your own bed.

4. You get the whole house to yourself

Your roommates will most likely be out on dates, so what better time to steal all the hot water, take a nice, relaxing bubble bath and release your inner Shania Twain/Fergie?

5. You get the flowers you actually like

No more red, cliche roses. You know what kind of flowers you like and by golly, you are getting them.

6. You can eat as much chocolate as you want

With no one around to judge your unhealthy decisions, you get to eat as much chocolate as your heart desires. Time to get chocolate wasted!

7. Netflix is a forever friend

Who needs Valentine's Day when you have Friends on Netfilx? They only cost you $8 a month, they make you laugh and you don't even have to contribute to the conversation.

8. Most importantly, your real friends will still love you just the same February 15th

What's the point in celebrating "love" only one day of the year? Your real friends love you just as much, if not more on the other 364 days. Let them know how thankful you are for them!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
