Fantasy football is a world of blood, sweat and tears. A fantasy football player is either skipping on cloud nine or enraged, cursing at his or her television screen and his or her phone screen. It's a fun league and is strictly for fun, but many players take a lot of it to heart having his or her emotions all over the place. And by many players, I mean 99 percent of fantasy football players. Here are a couple thoughts floating in the minds of fantasy football players.
1. “[Opposing team’s] quarterback has a horrible injury? Sweet!”
It's obviously horrible if a player is hurt, but for the sake of fantasy football, it can be a glorious thing. Typically an individual's backup quarterback is not that great, which is great for you.
2. “I seriously just dropped him after he got me five points for the season, and he just had a 20-point game.”
The infuriating feeling when the wide receiver you did nothing the whole season suddenly receives an amazing amount of points could bring a grown man to his knees.
3. "I'm cheering on the Packers, the Patriots, the Lions, the 49ers and the Jets."
None of these teams are your own personal favorite teams, but their players are on your team. You root for them... So long those players are on your team...
4. “I still have it. I can win. My kicker only needs 37 points.”
You have one person in the game left to play and your down by dozens of points. All of your trust, hope and life goes to this player. And, of course, it typically is the player that does not get you too many points.
5. “How the hell did [opposing team's] kicker get [him or her] 37 points?!”
When you're beating another team by a significant amount, and the other team's player comes out of nowhere and beats you. Two words: Heart. Break.
6. “If I played my bench, I totally would have beat [opposing player].”
It's horrible watching your benched players knock it out of the water. You start questioning yourself and everything you know. Who would have known?
7. “Literally half of my team is questionable, probable or out.”
This isn't happening! Your best players are hurt. Your second best players are hurt. The world is out to get you. Questionable and probable are the worst, because you don't want to bench them unless they play, but you also don't want to play them if they aren't going to play. So many troubles.
8. “Why is Rob Gronkowski on a bye week? My backup tight end is projected three points. Gronk doesn’t need rest! Get out there!”
Vacation time? NO! Football time, all the time. Get out there, you slacker!
9. “I literally just need three points to win, but the quarterback won’t throw the ball…”
The game is nearly over, and the team your player is on is winning by a landslide, so they won't throw the ball. YOU JUST NEED A FIRST DOWN! COME ON! STOP RUNNING THE BALL!
10. “Seriously? Throw the ball to Julio Jones!”
It's almost a compliment; a player on your team is so good that the other team is going to double team him. But it comes at a cost: the potential of not that many points for your player.
11. “If John talks sh*t one more time…”
There will always be that one guy or gal that will talk smack the whole season, throwing in statistics and bringing up past winnings. But you've got this. You're awesome. Whatever you do, your ultimate goal is to beat him or her.
12. “[Opposing team] isn’t even that good.”
Looking through the player's roster you're playing this week, you're relieved. His team isn't that great. That star quarterback that was awesome last year isn't playing this year like he was. Or, you say this out of fear...
13. “How did I lose to the [opposing team] that auto drafted half his team?”
The guy that decided to join and didn't chose his only players is somehow 4-0 already. What is that about?! UNFAIR.
14. “I have a good feeling about this season.”
Coming in with a clear mind, hope and dedication can go long way. You've got this!
