It is becoming that time of summer when you have to start being responsible again, because the sad realization that school is only about a month a way is hitting you. Where did the time go? You had so much fun this summer: minimum responsibilities, lots of going out, being tan and ready to take on the season. But now, it is the end of July and there's a lot to do before school is back in session. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end, but there is lots to look forward to in the next semester. Fall means pumpkin flavored favorites, football, beautiful colors in the scenery around you, reconnecting with all of your friends that went home for the past season, being back on a schedule (trust me some people need it) and many more exciting things. But, before we get excited about what is to come, there is a few things you need to get done before school is back:
1. Oil Change/Tires balanced and Rotated -- If you're anything like me, you put some miles on your car this summer, so make sure you take care of it post-summer road trips so nothing goes wrong when you'll need it most during the school year!
2. Update your wardrobe -- Unfortunately, there is an unspoken rule about wearing your swim trunks or crop tops to class (you don't do it), so you'll need to update your closet beforehand. Can anyone say shopping spree?
3. Buy your School Supplies -- Not only do you need notebooks, but check and see if you need new headphones, or batteries for your calculator. Cover all the grounds now so you don't have to last minute.
4. Make your last minute appointments -- From doctor appointments to hair appointments, these are always an inconvenience, so it's better to get them out of the way.
5. Visit your family -- Sometimes we lose touch with our loved ones when we know we need to spend more time with them, so take the time to make a visit before your schedule gets too crazy.
6. Make sure your finances are in order -- Budget, budget, budget. Visit the money management center if you have to. School is expensive.
7. Start setting alarms -- We are all guilty of sleeping until noon. Start setting alarms so that you don't sleep through your first class.
8. Jobs -- Whether you need to lessen your work load, or you need to start looking for a job on campus, be the first, because when the first week of school starts, everyone will be scrambling to get this one done.
9. Spring, I mean, Summer Cleaning -- Chances are, you racked up some junk this summer that is collecting in a corner of your room. If you don't need it, trash it or find a place to store it (reference that big donut float you have on your floor).
10. Car Detail -- This one is always nice to get done the week before school starts. A clean car always makes you feel like you have your life together.
11. Back to school body -- Let's be honest, we were all working out at the beginning of Summer, then we took a vacation and forgot how to. Start getting that back to school body so that you are already in a pattern once school is in session.
12. Last minute vacations -- It could be a river trip or a road trip. Enjoy a last minute vacay while you can for fun!
13. New Music finds -- A back to school playlist is a must.
14. Get your books -- This one is the worst because they are so expensive, but they are also so necessary. Spend money on your books before anything else.
Don't freak out. You still have a month of summer to go, so keep having fun, but maybe try get a couple of these done each week until the semester starts. Have fun for the rest of summer and good luck this school year!
