Ikea. One single word and a million items come to mind. Fluctuating from meatballs to decorative planters to children’s toys. Upon my first venture to Ikea, I had numerous questions, a lot of anticipation, and a fuming amount of elation. The home décor nerd in me waited for weeks, planned out what I wanted from the website and where I would put said items. The entire time I told myself “treat yo self!” But nothing prepared me for the thoughts and experiences I had during my first trip to the superstore.

1. When I told my friends I was going to Ikea for the first time

2. When I was walking into the store

3. When I walked in and felt overwhelmed

4. When I realized the price for coffee was under a dollar

5. When I finally tried the famous meatballs


6. When I grabbed everything in sight

7. When I tried to pronounce the Swedish names

8. When I ran from showroom to showroom

9. When I had to downsize my out-of-control shopping cart

10. When I saw my total at the cash register

11. When I chose not to buy the bag
