So it's here.
Thanksgiving is over, and the two weeks of hell that lie between you and six weeks of freedom have arrived at last.
It's a time that tries the best of us, but there is a light of having zero responsibilities at the end of the tunnel that keeps us all going (that, and the sympathy care packages you get from your grandma).
Here's the phases of finals (and pre-finals) week:
1. That Sunday night before it all begins when you go through your planner and realize how much you actually have to do:
2. When you decide to get organized and space your work/studying throughout the week and feel hella accomplished:
3. Only to inevitably convince yourself that your English essay can totally be pushed to Wednesday..
4. And regret that decision. Ten times over.
5. Then you haul your sorry self to the library and prepare to go all Cady's Africa-fantasies from Mean Girls on other people to get a cubicle:
6. Then sit on BuzzFeed for an hour telling yourself you'll seriously start at 6:42.
(Then: Whoops, missed it, guess I have to start at 7:37...)
7. Once you finally do open up Word, you slowly begin filling up that white space.
8. But not without a little help from God's gift to college students.
9. And the too-familiar kill-me-now pose:
10. Sometime mid-week your resolve will crumble and you'll inevitably have the "I can't do it these tests are actually going to kill me this time" phone call to your mom.
11. And she'll reassure you enough to plod on for one more essay by promising to make your favorite dinner when you get home.
12. So when you finally finish...
13. You'll run home as fast as you can...
14. And get some seriously well-deserved rest.
So as finals come up and you start to feel the pressure, remember what your mom will tell you when you call her: take it one day at a time, and you'll be done and home before you know it.
