It's that time of year again: with the haunted houses, ghost stories, candy corn, and Jack-O-Lanterns, Halloween is easily one of the most fun times of fall. What makes it even better? The Halloween parties. Everyone loves a good costume party, but why not amp it up a notch and throw your own? Better yet, why not throw a themed costume party?

Here are a few creative themes for a stellar costume party.

1. Around the World in 80 Days

Everyone dresses up as someone or something from a specific country.

2. Olympic Games

Dress up as your favorite Olympian or female athlete.

3. Dia de los Muertos

The makeup and costumes for this can be really intricate and creative. Plus, it’s an opportunity to learn more about the holiday.

4. Medieval Times

The fashion during this era is absolutely magnificent and it would be really fun to dress up with the fancy dresses and hairstyles.

5. Ice Age

Fur coats and knee-high boots galore!

6. Milky Way

Have an out of this universe time with some aliens, a solar system, the stars and the moon, etc.

7. Gypsy Gathering

The costumes for this would be so intricate and gorgeous.

8. Tribal Times

Re-use all your music festival gear full with flower crowns and flash tattoos.

9. TV Show/Movie Friend Groups

These can be friend groups from some of your favorite television shows or movies.

10. Famous Female Figures

You could dress up as Jackie Kennedy, Princess Diana, etc. It’s all about that girl power!

11. Zootopia

Dress up as your favorite animal!

12. Classified/Top Secret

You can keep this super secret and incorporate the FBI, CIA, lasers, etc.

13. Disneyworld

Dress up as your favorite Disney character or princess!

14. Decades Dance

Everyone can choose a decade and wear the fashion style of that decade!

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

1. My school is incredibly unique.

2. I am not just a number at my school.

3. I feel like I am contributing something to the community.

5. My professors know me and I feel that I can easily communicate with them.

9. Ability to join a sorority and have a house full of people I know I can talk to anytime I need to
