" Grey's Anatomy" first came into our lives 13 seasons ago. On the surface, it seemed like a show about the inner workings of a hospital and all the drama that is involved in the doctors lives. What fans quickly found out is that it is a black hole that sucks you in, makes you fall in love with the patients and doctors and then kills them off one-by-one. It seems like millions of lives have been lost inside of Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital, but here is a ranking of the ones that have sent me on the deepest downward spiral of tears and heartbreak.

14. Harold O'Malley

Played by: George Dzundza

Last episode: "Six Days: Part 2" S.3 E.12

This death was hard to handle because, not only was Harold the father of the beloved Dr. George O'Malley, his death was unforeseen. It was sad that he was in the hospital, but there were so many signs pointing to an easy recovery. This might have been the first time audiences realized that Shondaland isn't a happy place.

13. William Dunn

Played by: Eric Stoltz

Last episode: "Stairway to Heaven" S.5 E.13

Judge me if you want for placing a death row inmate higher on the list than sweet old Mr. O'Malley, but William's death was oddly hard to handle. Maybe it was his manipulative nature that made me feel bad for him, or maybe it's just the sympathetic part of me that thinks no one should have to die alone, either way, watching him stare at Meredith while his life slipped slowly away brought tears to my eyes.

12. Craig Thomas

Played by: William Daniels

Last episode: "Beautiful Doom" S.9 E.5

I don't know who cried more, the "Grey's Anatomy" fan in me or the "Boy Meets World" fan. Aside from the fact that Shonda Rhimes literally killed Mr. Feeny, this death was heartbreaking because it came at a time when Christina needed to know that not everyone dies.

11. Mary Portman

Played by: Mandy Moore

Last episode: "These Arms of Mine" S.7 E.6

What hurts the most about this death is that Mary literally survived a mass shooting in the hospital, but died after a perfectly executed textbook procedure. If that wasn't enough, watching her husband have to make the decision to unplug her life support left me gasping for breath.

10. Dylan Young a.k.a. "Bomb Squad Guy"

Played by: Kyle Chandler

Last episode: "As We Know It" S.2 E.17

Maybe it was naïve of me to think nothing bad would happen when some (stupid) guy showed up to the hospital with a homemade bomb inside his stomach, but when hours passed and Meredith was able to pull it out of his body with no explosion it seemed like everyone was in the clear. Of course not. As soon as Meredith handed the bomb off to Dylan, it exploded. He had faithfully risked his life all day long to make sure Meredith didn't make one wrong move and it all backfired on him.

9. Bonnie Crasnoff

Played by: Monica Keena

Last episode: "Into You Like a Train" S.2 E.6

This has always stuck out to me as one of the saddest episodes of Grey's and it makes me sad how few people remember it. Bonnie was a young woman with her whole life ahead of her until a train accident caused a pole to get lodged into her body as well as the man next to her, connecting them together. They spent the entire episode making light of the situation and joking about what happened. Unfortunately Bonnie's injuries were too severe for the doctor's to save her so when they removed the pole they left Bonnie to bleed out. The old man survived, which was nice, but I can't help but cry over Bonnie every time I watch the episode.

8. Adele Webber

Played by: Loretta Devine

Last episode: "Things We Said Today" S.9 E.10

First of all let's just acknowledge how much pain Dr. Webber has gone through. Every woman he loves ends up developing Alzheimer's and dying. Now that that's out of the way, Adele's life was never easy, she had to deal with a cheating husband and then a disease that she could watch take her life from her. Before she died she got one last night with Richard where he sang her "My Funny Valentine" and made her believe it was their wedding night. She died off screen and then Richard decided to attend Dr. Bailey's wedding without telling anyone (except for Meredith) what happened. The whole situation was painful to watch.

7. Henry Burton

Played by: Scott Foley

Last episode: "Suddenly" S.8 E.10

Teddy should have known better than to fall in love with a patient (didn't anybody tell her about the Izzie/Denny incident) and the fans really should have known better than to get too attached (again, did we learn NOTHING from Izzie and Denny?), but Henry was so sweet and kind and he cared about Teddy so much it was hard not to root for their happily every after. It was already hard enough watching Christina operate on a patient not sure of how she was doing, but when time of death was called and they uncovered the patient's face to reveal Henry, any hope of keeping my composure was gone.

6. Doc the Dog

Last episode: "Losing My Religion" S.2 E.27

Okay, okay, Doc isn't a person, I know. But anytime a dog dies there are tears, and if you don't agree then you're either crazy or you're lying. Besides, Doc was the last connection between Meredith and Derek so watching him die was like officially saying goodbye to their relationship -- even if they got back together later on.

5. Lexie Grey

Played by: Chyler Leigh

Last episode: "Flight" S.8 E.24

I've said it once and I'll say it again, NEVER get on a tiny airplane. Lexie had just started bonding with her half-sister Meredith and finding her place with the love of her life, Mark Sloan. Anyone watching the plane crash knew her death was imminent, which made it that much more heartbreaking when Mark tried help her hang on. Now we will never know what beautiful children Little Grey and McSteamy would've had.

4. George O'Malley

Played by: T.R. Knight

Last episode: "Here's to Future Days" S.5 E.23

Oh, George. Sweet, sweet George. As soon as he spelled out 007 in Meredith's hand and she started screaming, I lost it. Nobody wanted to believe that he was actually gone, but there when the elevator doors opened and he was waiting for Izzie, the hearts of fans everywhere shattered into a million pieces.

3. Derek Shepherd

Played by: Patrick Dempsey

Last episode: "How to Save a Life" S.11 E.21

For 11 seasons I stood firm in the idea that Shonda Rhimes surely would never kill Derek. He was Meredith's true love, the father of her children and the only thing that kept her from being dark and twisty, but he's dead anyway. Do you know why? Because Shondaland is the place where happy things go to die. I don't know what was worse about his death: hearing him narrate the entire thing while feeling himself slip away, or the fact that he died because he saved someone's life after years of proudly stating the phrase, "It's a good day to save lives." Don't worry, Shonda, we feel the irony.

2. Mark Sloan

Played by: Eric Dane

Last episode: "Remember the Time" S.9 E.2

When the plane went down and McSteamy was in bad shape, I thought his life would end right there in the woods. I could have accepted it if he slipped into an eternal sleep right next to Lexie, the love of his life, but no, of course that couldn't happen. They took him back to the hospital and made us believe that everything was going to be okay before he slipped into a coma. Everything about his death was sad from his final goodbyes to his loved ones to watching Callie decide to take him off life support. Nothing about this episode didn't make me cry.

1. Denny Duquette Jr.

Played by: Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Last episode: "Losing my Religion" S.2 E.27

I know that I only spend a few hours with Denny Duquette, and yes, I know he wasn't a real person, but when he died I ugly cried for a solid 30 minutes. Denny kept breathing despite having his LVAD wire cut, lived through heart transplant in weak condition and survived for hours without anything pumping to his heart. Then, just as he and Izzie were about to live happily ever after, he developed a blood clot and died. Alone.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
