14 Emotions All College Students Feel When Enrolling In Classes

It seems like just yesterday we were enrolling in classes for this semester, but here we are gearing up for the next, and the stress of scheduling classes is upon us. It's the most wonderful time of the year...said no one ever. It's probably, no it's definitely, everyone's least favorite time of the year. As I approach my sixth semester as a college student, the stress of scheduling next semester's classes never ceases to take its toll on my sanity. It's a week of stress that sends most on an emotional roller coaster.

1. Anticipation

Knowing enrollment appointments are coming out soon, all terrifying memories of enrollments past begin to come back and haunt you.

2. Nervousness

The day is finally here and the buzz of enrollment begins. Opening your enrollment appointment is about as nerve-racking as that Bio test you just took the day before (and as most of us know, Bio is no easy feat either).

3. Sadness

The enviable happens. You're stuck with another lousy enrollment time again. You sit there, sulking, silently cursing whoever gave you the absolute worst enrollment time possible.

4. Jealousy

As word spreads about enrollment appointments being published, it's suddenly as if no one has anything else to talk about. After multiple conversations, you find out basically the whole world has a better enrollment date and time than you, automatically causing your inner green monster to take over.

5. Stress & Anxiety

These two go hand in hand, because now you have the daunting task of finding out which classes are being offered and when. So you start scrolling through course catalogues and contemplating every last combination of classes and times to find the perfect fit.

6. Hope

As you add classes to your shopping cart, you attempt to keep a positive attitude in hopes that you'll get a fraction of the classes you want, at the times you really need.

7. Defeat

The feeling you get seeing your list of first choice-classes dwindling day by day as your appointment time approaches.

8. Overwhelmed

When your appointment finally rolls around and you have no idea what classes to sign up for.

9. Curiosity

So you come up with multiple possibilities as to how you can butter up the professors who have no clue who you are to get overrides into their classes...

...or maybe you're wondering why you're even putting yourself through this stress we call college in the first place.

10. Annoyed

Electives can be a blessing and a curse all in one. All the good ones are usually taken after the first day, so you're left with ones that aren't necessarily your forte. Taking a random music class as an elective when you're basically tone deaf just to qualify as a full-time student is not the best scenario.

11. Relief

FINALLY! You refresh one more time, and a class you desperately need opens up.

12. Luck

A professor emails you back with an override code you had been praying for. You feel like everything is finally working in your favor now. After all, getting an override just doesn't happen everyday. It feels like the sky's the limit from here.

13. Content

At this point, you have a decent schedule. It may not be the perfect combination of teachers, times, and classes, but you're still on that four-year track, so thats all that matters, right?

14. Agony

Then you remember open enrollment starts in a few days, and you'll have to go through the same set of feelings all over again...

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
