So many of us secretly, or maybe not so secretly, would absolutely die to get a puppy for Christmas. The problem is, especially for those of us who have a dog already, we don't know how to approach the topic without getting immediately shut down by our parents. Some of us, even if we had five puppies, would want another one. So how do we go about asking for a puppy for Christmas?
1. Pet therapy is very real.
No matter who the little furry friend is, they make your day so much better. They don't even have to do anything to make your heart feel warm inside. PLUS, even colleges use it as a way to de-stress, so it must be legit.
2. They are proven to lower stress levels.
With all of the stress that we experience as college students, it's important to have something that reduces our stress levels regardless of the situation.
3. They help boost immune systems.
Instead of paying for doctors visits for various colds and sicknesses we could develop, you might as well just buy a puppy and prevent those doctor visits later on! It's a win-win if you ask me!
4. I will never get in trouble.
If we have a puppy then I won't have any desire to do anything but cuddle with the puppy and play with the puppy. So in reality, I won't even leave the house.
5. I will smile WAY more often.
Nothing brings more joy than an innocent little puppy in your arms! Am I right?
6. They make great companions.
Who needs friends when you have a puppy anyway?
7. Puppies increase social interaction.
You need a way to make friends? Perfect, take the dog to your local pet play place and meet other people with puppies. Perfect conversation starter!
8. Guys, having a puppy is an instant way to get the attention of a girl that you like.
So if your parents are at the point of asking you every time you're home, "When are you going to have a girlfriend?," tell them this is a great way to start mingling with some girls on your campus!
9. The puppy will produce a healthy lifestyle.
Puppies need to be walked and they can go on runs with you. Even if you don't like running, if the puppy can run with you, I think that'll be motivation enough!
10. Some dogs can detect illnesses such as cancer.
They can be a lifesaver without even having to train them to do so!
11. Your parents will fall in love with the puppy too.
Secretly, they want one too, they just need to be convinced a little bit. They will love the little pooch just as much as you do.
12. Puppies teach you responsibility.
With a puppy you have to be responsible for someone other than yourself. This teaches you sacrifice and responsibility for a life. VERY helpful for your futures as well.
13. Ask them if they can really resist this face.
