Each of us has a holiday that we wait all year to roll around. Christmas is the most popular holiday for the majority of America. I agree that Christmas is a special time of year, it has a wonderful feeling about it but I would be lying if I claimed to be one of the people who sat all year are patiently waited for Christmas to appear.
Halloween, is the best time of the year. I count down each day to Halloween every year, and I have ever since I was a little kid. My family always did Halloween on a large scale. We did not just celebrate on the 31st, we made it a month long event. Our house was fully decorated, I'm talking more Halloween decorations than most people do for Christmas (we're big decorators; we go all out for Christmas too). The steps would be wrapped with orange lights, ghost hung in the trees, spiders that fell from the ceiling, food that looked like cut up fingers and mummies, even a meatloaf brain in the mix. We would watch all the classic horror films: "Halloween," "Night of the Living Dead," "Nightmare on Elm Street," "The Shinning," and several others. This probably explains why, as a kid, I was always a little terrified by the time I got home from trick-or-treating, but without a doubt it explains why I love the horror genre today.
There are various thoughts and emotions those of us who love Halloween experience, and these are in overdrive as the holiday quickly approaches. Halloween takes over and its all that Halloween lovers can think about, finally our time has arrived!
1. When we realize that September is almost over, and it is almost the most wonderful time of the year, we can hardly maintain our excitement.
After all black is a flattering color.
3. You get strange reactions, sometimes, when you proclaim your obsession for Halloween, but you don't care because you know it is the best.
4. You don't understand all your friends telling you your costume needs to be sexy; you're going for straight up scary.
You secretly hope that, maybe, next year you two can make the perfect group or couples costume.
You also vowed at a very young that you would never be a person who gave out healthy snacks and toothbrushes to trick-or-treaters.
8. You get to indulge in your love of horror movies thanks to AMC's fear fest and its perfect lineup of all things horror.
9. All of your weekends are devoted to going to haunted houses, haunted hay rides and haunted trails through the woods.
10. Your biggest dilemma during this holiday season is when to carve your pumpkin so it hasn't rotted by the time Halloween rolls around.
After all you can only get these a few weeks out of the year.
12. To stay in the Halloween spirit you try to scare your friends, but they don't always think it is as funny as you do.
13. You know every word to "This is Halloween" and you are proud of it.
Halloween gives you great joy and you wish it happened more than once a year. October is your favorite month and as much as you hate to see it leave after Halloween is over, by Nov. 1 you're already planning next year's costume.
