I'm almost positive that I'm nocturnal.

13 Struggles Only Night Owls Know

Have you ever wished you could be the person who pops out of bed the second your alarm goes off, ready to start the day? Or maybe even the person who peacefully awakens when the birds begin to sing outside the window? Contrarily, if you have to set at least five alarms in order to bring you to a somewhat conscious state and you get out of bed feeling like the Grinch on Christmas, you, my friend, are a night owl. This means you will definitely relate to the following struggles.

1. You physically can’t fall asleep until the wee hours of the night, despite all of the tricks you’ve tried.

Counting sheep? Check. Eye mask? Check. Lavender pillow mist? Check. So, basically your only option is Zzzquil (or even Benadryl).

2. Since your body doesn’t want to go to sleep, you somehow end up looking through the dark depths of Instagram from 119 weeks ago.

"Wow she looked like that in high school?! Interesting. OMG I almost accidentally liked it! That would have been horrific..."

3. You text a friend and get slightly mad when they don’t respond, but then you remember that normal people are asleep at that hour.

"Whatever, it's cool *sigh*, I'm totally fine with sitting here all alone with no one to talk to."

4. Although it sounds crazy, you swear you do your best work while everyone else is deep into REM sleep.

In one night, you've probably finished two papers, a quiz, a project due at the end of the semester, and even learned how to cook a juicy steak from a YouTube tutorial.

5. Of course, you eventually get hungry, so you wander to the kitchen to fix your fourth meal of the day.

"I bet I have a steak somewhere in the freezer that I could use for my new cooking skills..."

6. Then you get the random urge to clean, which is very hard to do quietly so that you don’t wake anyone up.

I can tell you from experience that neighbors really don't like the sound of a vacuum at 3:30 a.m.

7. Finally, after countless episodes on Netflix, your body drifts to sleep.

ZZzzZZZzzzZzZzzZzZZzzz

8. The next morning, you're pretty much dead until about 11 a.m.

As you look in the mirror, you decide you'd make a great zombie extra on "The Walking Dead."

9. In fact, you’ve probably slept in as late as 3 p.m. on a Saturday (or maybe even a regular weekday).

And you've definitely heard someone say, "Well look who's awake!" as you slump out of your room.

10. Your alarm clock is actually your archenemy.

"Again?! OK 10 more minutes, then I'll get up this time, I swear."

11. Even when you do finally get up for the day, you feel groggy all afternoon.

Snacks and energy drinks are your real best friends.

12. Regardless, your energy never fails to return later in the evening.

Magically, you're not tired once the sun starts to go down, which unfortunately is the time that everyone else starts to get ready for bed.

13. And the cycle continues.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
