I personally feel that I did not cherish my freshmen year the way I should have. As a freshman I was always looking forward to going onto my sophomore year, because for some odd reason I felt that by sophomore year I would be a mature adult with my life together. Boy, was I wrong.
1. You're old news in the house.
Older pledge classes no longer gush over how cute you are. No, there's a new pledge class in town and they're more cute and fun than you ever were. You are officially old news.
2. The "first time" excitement wears off.
Your first date party, your first coke date, your first party. There is nothing that recreates the hype and excitement that you felt as a freshmen during these events. You've been there, and you've done that.
3. The "endless" amount of money you got from graduation ended up having an end.
LOL, and you thought that money was going to last you all through college.
4. You are no longer the spoiled child. You have a little to provide for now.
"That much for a t shirt? Are you kidding?"
"This is the third time I've been to Hobby Lobby this week"
5. Due to reasons 3 and 4, you realize it's time to get a job.
The money you have from your summer job really isn't cutting it. As if you aren't already stressed enough with your homework load, why not throw in a job right? You've got time. Ha. Ha.
6. The excuse "I'm a freshman in college" can no longer be used.
"I can go out tonight, I mean it's my freshman year."
"I got a D in a class? I mean it's okay. It is my freshmen year."
"Mom I'll do better next year. I'm just getting used to college. I'm a freshman."
7. The difference between 19 and 20 is actually non-existent. I guess age really is just a number.
Sadly, when the clock strikes midnight and you exit out of your teenage years, you are still a hot mess. Honestly, you might be even more of one.
8. "I'll stay single my freshmen year"
You may a few times have said "I'll stay single my freshmen year and just have fun. I'll do a relationship next year." Hm. Easier said than done.
9. Life is steadily becoming more real.
You start realizing how fast college actually goes by. Real life is coming up fast and there is nothing you can do to stop it.
10. Along with number 9 comes the breakdown.
I actually have no idea what I'm doing with my life and may fail all 15 hours I'm in but hey that's fine things will work themselves out right? Right? RIGHT?
11. "What do you want to do after college?"
Hm. You know, I thought I would've gotten closer to knowing this answer by now.
12. When you see a freshman have their first breakdown and you want to tell them it'll get easier but you also like to tell the truth.
Let's be honest, college doesn't easier, you just get stronger (or you became numb).
13. The "I'm here for my MRS degree" jokes are no longer jokes. They have morphed themselves into your personal mission statement.
Classes are hard and a full time job sounds harder. You are still a self respecting person with goals in life and really aren't trying to be a gold digger, but come on, you can be a self respecting person with goal in life and have a spouse that supports all your wants and needs too, right?
Lets be honest, you're still enjoying college and are having the time of your life, but sometimes being a freshman again sounds just a little too tempting.
