The 13 Stages Of Every Road Trip

Road trips are always bittersweet.

I have had my fair share of road trips; I take around four twenty-hour round trip driving extravaganzas each year. Over the last few years, I have noticed recurring incidences that make up most road trips I have taken. The following accompany most of my driving excursions.

1. The trip begins by packing the car and then repacking and repacking again.

How can so many bags fit into one space? I guess all of those years playing tetris payed off.

2. Turning around because you left something.

Just when we thought we were ready to go.

3. Stopping somewhere to eat because you are already hungry.

"Why haven't we left yet?"

4. Someone needs to use the restroom before you even get to the interstate.

An hour later and we are still within the same-mile radius.

5. Thirty minutes in and at least one person has fallen asleep.

Even better if it is the same person who left their charger and needed to use the restroom, you can now proceed to taking embarrassing pictures.

6. Argue over the music for a good hour.

Everyone seems to have different tastes in music, and this causes some serious issues when choosing the right music to play. Make sure to bring your earbuds just in case.

7. Finally choosing a song that everyone likes and performing the music for all who pass by the act.

Disclaimer: The travel companion that has fallen asleep is suddenly awake for this number.

8. People-watching, highway edition.

Most of the trip consists of peering into passing cars. Bonus points if anyone stares back, boost that awkwardness to the next level.

9. Critiquing passerby's driving skills.

The driver can't play games or awkwardly stare into cars like the others so they go on a tangent about how everyone else is a terrible driver.

10. Checking your Snapchat to see if there are geofilters then proceeding to post all of them to your story.

Take life by the reigns and post every single geofilter that you discover on Snapchat because we all want to watch a 300 second story. Just kidding, those things are so cool.

11. Realizing you are out of gas and then freaking out because you are in the middle of nowhere and see no exit signs.

Note: Just be careful not to get "shot" with flying burritos.

12. Repeat numbers 2 through 10.

13. Finally reaching your destination.

Depending on how long the road trip was will determine the length of time you will not talk to the people you rode with.

Congratulations, you have survived the trip!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
