Ladies, let's face it, we'd be lost without our girl friends. I mean, girls' night out wasn't invented just because it was a necessary part of female survival. As awesome as our guy friends are, no one gets us quite as well as our fellow women. Here are some reasons why lady friends are a so awesome:
1. Extra closets!
It's a well-known fact that having access to your bestie's clothes is a given. Seriously, what could be better than multiple closets to choose from?
2. Wedding party? No problem.
One of the many things girls and their friends fantasize about is weddings. The dress, the ring, the man... we have it all planned out to a T. Well, those things are subject to change, but what will remain a definite for most women is the wedding party. You plan who is going to be whose maid of honor so that everyone gets a turn, and the rest get to be bridesmaids. Easy.
3. Your fake lesbian lover.
We've all been there: you're waiting for your drink at the bar when the creeper from across the dance floor meanders his way over to reside uncomfortably close to you. You can feel him breathe down your neck and you pray that he's also just waiting for a drink. Your hopes are dashed as you feel his hand land inappropriately low on your back. Before you can turn and chew this fool out, you hear a familiar feminine voice say, "Sorry, she's taken," as your lady friend smacks his hand away and throws her arm around you. You'll never have to worry about unwanted attention again!
4. Someone who understands your struggle.
Nothing is more embarrassing than realizing you leaked during Aunt Flow's dreaded monthly visit. However, your girls have your back! They'll always have a spare tamp and will discretely check your booty to make sure nothing is showing. No male will ever volunteer to do this. Keep your men close, and your female friends closer.
5. A dress-up pal.
Girls enjoy dressing up just for the sake of it. No plans have been made, but the dresses come out, the heels go on, and the eyeliner gets winged. Not only is this a great bonding experience, but it's the perfect time for gossip and boy-talk, as well as...
6. So. Many. Pictures!
Your camera roll probably holds a decent amount of selfies and cute pictures of your boyfriend, but I guarantee nothing takes up more space than pictures taken with girl friends. After all, you can't let a nice outfit and perfect makeup go to waste!
7. Your second opinion.
While you might think that doing galaxy nails is a good idea after going on a Pinterest binge, your lady friend will beg to differ. Your girls are who you go to for advice on hair, makeup, boys, the works! "Should I dye my hair bleach blonde?" you ask? Your ladies (if they love you) will respond with a resounding NO!
8. A fellow beauty addict.
Your male friends just don't understand the importance of a good mud mask and a nice face scrub. No worries, your ladies know exactly what you mean! You'll never have to walk around after applying a face mask alone ever again. And sometimes, you just want someone to try out a new look with you.
9. A shoulder to cry on.
Or just a snuggle buddy who is there for you when you need a hug. Life is hard, but it seems more bearable with your ladies by your side.
10. Someone who sticks with you.
Life has a habit of throwing you on opposite sides of the world as those you care about, your best girl friends will still be there for you no matter how long it's been. No time, no amount of drama and no distance can tear apart that bond.
11. An adventure partner.
Nothing makes for a good girls' day out like going on a hike or soaking up some sun!
12. A listening ear.
Your girl will be there for you, even if you want to talk entirely in emojis or hashtags. No matter how important (or not) a conversation is, she'll participate and make sure you feel loved and accepted.
13. Sisters.
Family doesn't have to be blood-related — your girl friends will basically be your sisters for life. These ladies will be there for you through thick and thin- they'll go through puberty with you, be there for your first heartbreak, work crappy jobs with you, and be there for you when you finally have that dream wedding.
While tons of girls will say they hang out with men because there tends to be "less drama" the fact of the matter is that you will encounter drama no matter the gender. Your lady friends will drive you crazy, but you'll love them anyway. Their fierce loyalty will be a blessing, and no one will understand you better. You'll see each other cry, hang out together in sweatpants, try new things, become distant with time, grow closer again, and help plan each other's proposal. Your girls will never leave your side for long!
