I always wanted a dog growing up, but I was never allowed. I had to prove to my parents that I was responsible enough for a dog; A.K.A. I had to be able to take care of myself before I could take care of a dog. So after many years of showing my parents how responsible I was, they agreed to get my sibling and I a puppy! The only catch was that I had to do research on what type of dog to get and how much money went into caring for a dog. Talk about summer homework…

So finally, after countless dog-breed books, phone calls to vets and talking to dog owners, my family and I decided that a Boston Terrier would be the best fit for our family (if only I were this passionate about doing my schoolwork). When I was 13 years old, we adopted our Boston Terrier puppy. We were all so happy to have a dog. It took a lot to get used to a puppy. He went from being timid and obedient to running the whole household "0-100 real quick." And let me tell you, they’re the worst types of dogs.

1. They’re too calm.

Their lack of energy puts me to sleep.

2. They’re antisocial.

They hate being with others. They would rather be alone in a dark room than playing with friends.

3. They hate to be scratched.

See how they reject it? I never touch my dog. Ever.

4. They aren’t very observant.

They just sit there with no curiosity.

5. They’re not smart.

Want to teach your Boston a trick? Good luck!

6. They’re terrible cuddlers.

Forewarning, they are NOT snugly lapdogs.

7. They’re not cute.

So ugly. Gross!

8. They’re not fun.

Talk about the most boring dogs ever.

9. They’re not active.

Again, BORING.

10. They’re not adventurous.

They don't want to do anything.

11. They’re not graceful.

Don't expect a "Best In Show."

12. They’re unloving.

Boston terriers are the coldest and meanest dogs ever.

Just kidding, they’re the best and I miss my dog so much. Can’t you tell? In all seriousness, Boston terriers are great dogs who all need good homes. If you would like one of these little doggies in tuxedos, visit Northeast Boston Terrier Rescue.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
