There are so many things wrong with society and the world, so much pain, hurt and hate in the world. We all need something to keep our heads above water. I turn to meditation a lot of the time, which seems a lot more complex than it actually is. Sometimes it is easy as sitting down, taking a deep breath and exploring everything on your mind or simply observing your surroundings.

1. Chicago Lakefront

Lake Michigan is the biggest blessing of living in Chicago. This is my favorite location for many occasions. There is not many things in life that affects me the way that sitting by the Lake, closing my eyes and listening to the waves does. The Lake is equally as mesmerizing during the freezing winter months as well.

2. Garfield Park Conservatory

There is something truly magical about an indoor nature preserve in the middle of the city of Chicago. If you haven't been here yet, you are about to have your life and your well-being changed.

3. The Butterfly Room at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum.

This place is so mystical that there is not even a photo online that justifies its beauty. This place is another hidden gem of Chicago.

4. Your Shower

Okay, so none of us get to wake up and jump in this shower, but sometimes standing in my small shower and meditating makes me feel like I'm standing in the shower from this photo. Your mind is powerful!

5. Skokie Lagoons

Despite the name, this nature preserve is a magical little swampland in Glencoe, Illinois. Definitely worth the drive.

6. Your Bedroom

While this seems like the obvious choice, there can be a huge peace of mind just being in a room of one's own.

7. Grant Park/Millenium Park

Grant Park may feel a little commercialized and cliche but so is Central Park and that place is still magical just like Grant Park.

8. Harold Washington Library

We have one of the most beautiful libraries in the world, let alone the country, yet it is often looked past.

9. Grand Hall at Union Station

This place is so perfect to sit listen to echoes, write, draw and just take a deep breath.

10. Any Bench inside of the Art Institute of Chicago

We also have the greatest Art Museum in the country. Never take this place for granted. Thursdays are free for residents!

11. Humboldt Park

This enormous oasis is breathtaking.

12. Public Transportation

The CTA might seem like the last place to meditate, but my most peaceful time of my day is usually my commute. Maybe its the motions and maybe its the feeling of being alone in a crowded train car or bus, either way it can be very therapeutic.

13. The 606 Trail

We live in a wonderful city, with so many peaceful hideaways. Take a deep breath, and walk into tomorrow.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
