15 Hacks For The Stubborn Headache

If you're like me, you get headaches pretty often. There are a lot of medications that you can take for a quick fix, but I try to stay away from those if I can. There are so many at-home remedies for headaches, and I decided to name a few of my headache hacks for someone who doesn't want to go on medication, or is just looking for some other ideas.

1. Daith piercing.

This is the ultimate fix. Almost everyone who has gotten a daith piercing will tell you that it works miracles, and reduces headaches often.

2. Diet Coke.

This is my life saver. Caffeine has been proven to help headaches and migraines, but there's something about Diet Coke that always helps me. However, if Diet Coke isn't your thing, try regular Coke because it works wonders as well. I have also found that other sodas like Sprite and Dr. Pepper do not work as well with headaches.

3. Goody's Powder.

Goody's Powder is the one thing I take for a quick fix. This stuff is basically a shot of caffeine and Tylenol, and it works in about 15 minutes. It's a miracle powder. However, get the orange flavor because otherwise the taste will make you want to puke. Goody's is about $6.99.

4. Glass of water.

Tried and true. This is probably the best thing you can do for yourself, chug that glass of water.

5. Cold eye mask.

These help tremendously by putting something cold on the inflicted area of the headache. Jet.com has them starting at $7.49.

6. Nadi shodhana breath.

This is my secret weapon. By focusing on breathing, it helps bring air to the brain and sooth and relax you. Thus, helping with the headache. Nadi shodhana breath is also called alternating breath. Here's a link with instruction on how to do nadi shodhana breath: http://www.chopra.com/ccl/nadi-shodhana-how-to-pra...

7. Yoga

Yoga is restorative for the body, and helps with headaches and the like. Yoga with Adrienne provides YouTube videos that help specifically with headaches. She's a rock star, and it helps so much! Here's one of her headache yoga videos.

8. Feet in cold water, something cool on back of neck.

This helps you relax and gets to the root of the problem.

9. Head scratcher.

These help massage the problem areas, and feel fantastic.

10. Foot rubs

Foot rubs can help you relax, while also taking your focus away from your brain and restoring your body.

11. Self head massage.

By massaging the crown of your head, base of your neck and your temples, you relive stress in the problem areas.

12. Bananas.

It's bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S. Now that that's stuck in your head, bananas are actually a great help with migraines because of the potassium they provide.

13. Lavender oil.

Lavendar oil is super soothing for a headache. I usually sprinkle some on my pillows before I sleep if I've had a headache. It really helps.

14. Coconut water.

Coconut water is an acquired taste, but it helps with headaches tremendously.

15. Sleep.

If all else fails, take a nap.

Do not...

Watch TV, use your phone or read books. These things will only make your headache worse.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
